I love my heating pads and heated blankets. This time of year, I don't know what I'd do without them. Sometimes it's the cold that seeps through my body and just WON'T go away and sometimes its the pain that only the heat seems to help.
I also adore my massage therapist. she is wonderful and very knowledgeable about massage for different conditions. She started doing a new thing with me called cranial-sacral therapy. We haven't gotten far with it. With winter here, we couldn't do all the pieces because I need her help breaking the rocks that are my arms, shoulders and neck. Once it warms up she is going to do more. It's great for chronic conditions and people who can't tolerate massage because it involves using pressure points to balance your body's systems. I have chronic sinusitis and she's pretty much cured that. I'm still on the same packet of Sudafed I bought half a year ago. That's never happened. just a thought if you have any issues with the new therapy.
Just to share .... and feel free to ignore any of these if you think they won't work - we all tolerate different things.... I crushed L2 & L5. Sometimes they get cranky and sometimes my bad ankle throws my gait off and makes my back, hips and butt sore. I rotate out pain relief methods as that seems to work the best. I tolerate different things on different days. I picked up a Dr. Scholls heat and vibrate pad for my chair for $20. sometimes I don't like it,, but other days it saves me. I also picked up an acupressure mat. I have trouble using it some days but the pillow piece always feels good on my neck and head. My other one is a EMS/TENS unit they sell at lots of places by Omron. It really helps on bad days by stimulating your muscles to move. I like that one because it is easy to use unlike several other ones out there. I can even use it when I'm brain dead or half asleep. my other ones are NOT that way.
If you find any new items that work for you, please share. I'm always on the lookout for anything that works and doesn't require drugs.
Also, let me know how the Yoga goes. I have been put through some sessions, but can't seem to manage it. Some of it was because my ankle never recovered from an accident completely. So I'm curious if anyone else has good luck with it.
Take care!
