Just curious, has anyone gone to the hospital/ER on a bad flare day?

I'm fairly new to having Fibro-diagnosed in Oct. I happened to see one person write in a forum that they went to the ER on a day that they had a bad flare. Maybe it's just me, but I, myself, probably couldn't do that. I feel that they couldn't help much if our meds don't help us. Am I wrong? I also feel that a hospital or ER is there for those that are critical and to me, as bad as Fibro feels, we shouldn't be considered critical because we aren't dieing. This might spark a debate and I'm not trying to start one, I'm just curious for opinions.

I have called my dr and gotten an appt on a day that I was having a particularly bad flare. The flare stared several days earlier and it was a Friday and I didn't want to take a chance that it might get worse over the weekend. I wouldn't want to go to the ER. I don't think there's much they can do and I really like my dr, he's very good with fibro.

I have, but that's because my Crohn's and gastroparesis make it difficult for my body to absorb medication. Oral painkillers have no effect. It takes 3600 mg/day of gabapentin for me to manage symptoms on a regular basis. So I've gone when my pain is more than I can tolerate at home.
