Infection

In April I began getting bad pain in my ear. It is not inside it is outside at the bottom. Touching gently with a Q-tip caused so much pain. I saw my Family Physician. He looked inside my ear and said I had an outer ear infection. I was put on Ciprodex ear drops. You use them for 7 days. The pain let up but returned in about a week. I tried 4 more days of the ear drops. Again, was OK but the pain started up again.

I went back to the Doctor. I now have a prescription cream - Fucidin H cream. It is a Topical Antibiotic/Corticosteroid. I've read that it does not kill bacteria but somehow disrupts the protein that bacteria require to survive. Your immune system can then help you to heal.

My head and jaw is in dreadful pain, having a hard time walking. I don't see my Headache Doctor for a couple weeks. I am unsure if the med is impacting me or the unsettled weather we are to get. Not doing to much but trying to keep moving.

Be careful, it can get into your mastoid bone causing all sort of issues.

Thanks for all the responses. Joy, I've had head pain for a long time. I have wondered, probably like most of us, if there is something that is being missed. I have read some posts here about infections in bones. It is rather scary.

I do have some Tramadol left. I don't use it on a regular basis. Tylenol doesn't do anything for me. Ice and heat are always comforting.

I do get relief when I go to bed. The meds I take do put me to sleep most of the time.

I will keep in touch with my Doctors for sure.

Hi Myself:

My health has declined since 2000 when I had an infection with C. Difficile. I was cleaned up in an endoscopy but did fill the prescription for Cipro and Metronidazole. I believe the second med might have been the cause of my Neuropathy. I was seeing a Gastroenterologist but the infection was not diagnosed and I had a bout of colitis with rectal bleeding. It took many years to get my stomach working better. Probiotics helped.

I think we may be in the same boat. I have had many viruses and they all have varied in severity. I hate the ones that make you cough like crazy. I have been bitten by ants and spiders, stung by bumble bees and yellow jackets - all around my house. I was most concerned when my headaches and jaw pain began as I cut my toe on something in a Lake. I checked with my Doctor's office and they said my Tetanus shot was still effective. I told this to my present Doctor - I said I would be long dead if I had Tetanus, wouldn't I. It is scary, all the things that inflict people.

I had just a month ago a whole month of pain in my left arm. It was non stop day and night. I found that taking half of the 50 mg Tramadol I was able to sleep. When the pain stopped I stopped using the Tramadol. I am on many meds though, just not pain meds. They are not supposed to be a great mix with Nortriptyline but I know people who post are using both. You have to get by somehow.

I will have to check in with my Doctor as my ear is bleeding today. It is all near the ear lobe - just above in the groove.

I have one more problem, I am borderline for Diabetes. I am working on that. I also have a low thyroid and just started a new med that is not making much difference for me. Will do some blood work this month.
