Hi Peers,
This is a double follow up comment to two recent threads. One was a post with a Peer stating that her Dr discussed centralization sensitivity as "being all in her mind", the other, childhood trauma and relation to Fibro.
Yesterday, I sent almost three hours discussing the results of an exhausting set of neuropysch tests from my reared/whiplash in Dec 2013. Luckily I speak this language! Wow. He discussed that while, yes, I have physical symptoms of post concussion syndrome, I have a very mixed result in the various cognitive tests. What dies this mean?
Well, moderate depression brought on by the body trauma, enhanced by Fibro( exsisting), awakened PTSD as I experienced it as a child
( childhood traumas), decreased capacity for encoding or retrieval due to all this, ect. Oh, and pain meds but only at the time of the needed increase.
Ok. As we were talking about all this we discussed PTSD, depression, abuse (rape, sorry for this outing of a painful subject for women), and PCS with other pain issues that are new and chronic. He mentioned that research was indicating that childhood traumas can prime us for Fibro later in life. He followed by stating these studies are showing it is a brain dysregualation, not a mental health issue. We talked a lot about the amagdyla, the emotional processing/ memory area and fight/ flight.
I am still left a bit confused about how many things are mildly to moderately "off" in my brain, like fibro fog wasn't enough!, but given the other, important threads about research, childhood trauma and where fibro might come from I felt my woes had helpful information for this forum.
Hope you all are not totally confused by this,
Blessings
