I am confused - Osteomalacia and fibro share almost no symptoms - if you have porous bones why would someone suggest fibro ???
Nice to hear I was not the only one that was confused. Actually the Internist threw the diagnosis of Fibro out there before even getting my RA/ANA/Lupus etc. tests back. That was the primary reason I was not ready to try the medications.
Still, I can understand her confusion. I have overwhelming fatigue (probably the mono and/or low Vit D) and pain everywhere, that comes and goes. Ribs, sternum, shoulders, hands, hips, knees, back, feet. The shoulder pain is only on the left and I do have an old rotator cuff tear on that side. She says the sternum, rib and most the other joint pain can be explained by the Osteomalacia (so I guess they do share some symptoms). The hand pain, which is the oldest symptom, could simply be osteoarthritis from years of hand milking cows and goats. The hands are the only place I have stiffness.
I was also under replaced on thyroid.
The plan is to treat me and see how much gets better. I took my first 50,000 of Vit D last night. Seven weeks to go before retesting.
In any case I am considering it very good news.
