Can anyone tell me if the amitriptylin medication work to help with pain though. Thanks.

I was on amitriptyline for years, but not for fibro. I took it for its drying effect for chronic digestive issues I won't discuss here. It did help a lot, as I had been previously losing a lot of weight, but I was very sleepy on it. I'd take it in the evening and would be tired all the next day. Then I'd start all over again! But I'm so thankful it helped that particular condition, though it's very different from fibro.

But maybe I'm just very sensitive to it? Seems I tend to be sensitive towards most meds and I try to avoid them when I can.

asiangal: Sorry I'm not more help as far as how amitriptyline works specifically for fibro. Hopefully there will continue to be comments here. I'm curious to see that.

I've been taking it for several months now. It has helped tremendously with my pain but does not help me sleep at all. I have yet to discover anything that helps me sleep, though. My rheumy was hopeful that it would help with both. I noticed a decrease in my pain levels almost immediately when I began taking it. Best of luck!
