Morning all from the frozen tundra,

    My moms bed came the afternoon of the 8th, her room now looks more like a hospital room then her bedroom. They now have raised her lactulose to 40ml 6x daily. We have on hand liquid oxycodone and lorazpam and darvacet. her good days come and go now. Hospice has brought us the book (Gone From My Sight).To help us understand more. We have taken up shifts so there is always somebody awake with her.  I have to remind her friends not to cry when they talk to her. We have made the plans for her double funeral, one here and one down back in Oklahoma after she is cremated where she wants her ashes put. She spends alot of time in her room going though her stuff, cleaning it and what ever. Plus sleeping alot. We just kinda let her do what ever she wants right now, don't think it will make that much of a differance. I realy do want to thank you all for your support.

  hi jamiesota, so sorry to hear about your mother, i went threw this a little over a year ago with my dad and i still question myself about the what if i would have done this or the other, like if the drs would have found it earlier he would have been more comfortable or if i would have changed drs for him but he was set in his ways. or if i would have known what to look for with liver disease. didnt even know he had liver disease till 6 months before he passed. i have been reading posts almost every day i have learned more about liver disease on this forum than i did the whole time my father was sick. my thoughts are with you in a big way, you know when the time gets close to losing them it gets harder because one day they almost seem like normal and the next you never know. you and your mom are in my prayers, just try and enjoy the time you do have. take care!!!!!

Pink Grandma I come to you for words of wisdom. And guess a lot more questions now. And maybe I can make it though with out crying for a while.

Did your husband have alot of pain? I dont want her to hurt.  My mom says funny it is not really her liver that hurts but more her back. I know when her levels are up she walks hunched over and she gets a strange smell to her. Is there a point where the lactulose just stops working. Cause if so I think we are reaching that point. For the amount they have her on, she is not hardly haven any bowel movements. We have talked to her about stopping all treatments, she says not yet. Her friend will be here the first week of March. My other brother is comming up along with my step dad. We know just like she knows the end is soon. Right now every time I go to bed I feel like the first time we moved our daughter to her own room as a baby and she slept though the night.... No you check ... no you check her. We took family pictures yesterday. And now we are trying to find somebody come cut and perm her hair for her. I talked with to funerul home yesterday, they are sending out all the stuff we wiill need. well I gota go get my kid up for choir practice, hope all have a good day.

Good Morning Jamie,

I am so sorry to hear about your mom.

My dad complaint back pain a lot.  He needed someone to rub him all the time.

Pink Grandma might be right, her kidney might be shutting down.  I remember when Dr. confirmed my Dad's kidney was very weak, we start to smell some  strange smell as well. My dad suffered very bad pain on his last 2 days and he even have to scream out to release his pain.

     Jamie:  I went to ENT recently for ears and told him about nose bleeds. He told me that in the climate we have here. He thought it was probably due to that. He said to buy a Saline nasal Gel. No prescrition necessary. So I went to Wall Mart and found a gel  called AYR.  I have been using it for a few weeks and really have seen a difference. Get her some and try it . You just put it on a    Q-Tip and put it in the nostrels. Hope this might help her at least  a little.   Prayers for you and your mom.     june           

June I thought about the dry air also but we have humidfers going in the house. So at this point who know. We take each day as we get them.

   I just noticed it has been quite awhile since my last post. So here I a m to give an update on my mom.

   For quite awhile we noticed the lactulose was making no differance in her amiona levels. One week she could be at 150 something and the next at 60 something. We desided to stop treatments. She was doing quite well for a little while, then she started haveing trouble with the shakes and not being able to stay awake. She went into a semi-coma for about 10 days, came out of it for about 3 days, the slowing back into to it. So now she is back into a semi-coma again. If and when she does try to open her eyes it is no more then a few seconds. 1/2 the time she does not know who I am, and she ranges any where from her late teens to mid fifties. She bables and nothing makes since. They have cathed her now and she is on meds to keep her comfortable. She is breaking out in blister type rashes, bms have stoped for the most part unless she has meds to go. Sometimes we can get her to eat a little but it has to be like a pudding thinkness or she chokes on it. She has lost around 20bs now. She can do nothing for her self, more like a 3 month old baby. She now is on O2 24/7. She has started to have crackels in her lungs and her urine is dark orange. Well guess thats about for now. hope everybody is doing well and enjoying the new spring season.
