Hello, I am worried about
my husband. He has drank alcohol heavily for 35+ years. I would not marry him till he quit drinking, so he quit for one year. After we married, he started drinking wine, a gallon a day. This wine thing started 5 years ago. One dr diagnosed him with esophageal varices (throat). But my husband tells all his drs, "he does not drink and never has". He is so swollen in his abdomen, legs, even his face looks horrible with so much swelling. He is only 5'10' tall with a 55in waist. He has spider veins on his back, ankles look like pin cushions. Diarhea everyday. Now when he gets up, he has started vomiting and nausea. He is very forgetful and has many black-outs. He has fallen so many times, I've lost count. He smokes and I can never leave the house- I am afraid he could set something on fire. He also cannot breath very well, he has to sit up and forward to breath. He also chokes (every day) when he coughs or eats. He will not see a dr about
this. He says he does not have a problem with alcohol. He also says he does not need a dr. But many times he says things and the next hour he totally denies saying it. He does this all the time. I have learned to ignore his statements. This must be cirrosis, if so, what stage would this be? Please help...
Is there anything I can do? My husband would kill me If I went behind his back & talked to his doctor.
