Hi, JoAnn.  I'm doing okay, thanks.  This program is about life at Johns Hopkins.  Last week they did feature a woman who was getting a lung transplant.  Turns out that the lungs they obtained for her were not in good enough condition, so she had to go home.  However, they had barely gotten home when they were called to come in again...another set of lungs had been obtained for her.  Those lungs worked.  Talk about stress!  They have other stories going on, like a doctor whose wife is divorcing him.  Most people may find this show boring, but I like anything medical, and especially when it's "real life."

 I'm still here. I just got so tired and needed to rest and here I am doing the same thing tonight. Laundry and research on IBS and catching up on you all. I don't know that I can talk as much as I want to, but I'll come back ASAP.

Dern Connie, I missed it again. I'll have to put a sticky note on the TV. I've been trying to get my insurance straightened out. It's been 2 months since we've been paying Cobra and everyone was still giving me the runaround. I finally found one woman that would do her job. I got my Rx today and will soon get a discount on my phone bill, thanks to "shadowghost".  Really getting down to the final $$$ here. Do you know how else I might be able to save some money or get other discounts? Milk today was $4.75 a gallon. I could put a milk cow in the back yard, if ordinances allow it!

JoAnn and Carol, sorry you missed the show tonight.  It was very good.  They did a heart transplant on a young man.  Yes, it is on every Thurs. night, but I'm not sure for how much longer.

JoAnn, the drain is working, but there hasn't been much.  The last few days it's only been about 3 cc in a 24-hour period.  It's inflamed and sore where the stitches are, so I'll probably end up taking it out before next Tues. (my next appt.)

Carol, I hear you on money.  I am so careful...watch for sales and use coupons and store card...but my total today for groceries was $105--that's for a week's worth.  And it's just me and two cats!  I didn't get any meat except for half a pound of hamburger meat that was on sale.

I get a break on my phone bill for local calls.  I basically just pay the taxes.  I recently dropped the wire maintenance plan.  I signed up with Pioneer for long distance at 2.9 cents a minute, but haven't yet gotten a bill.  I may have to switch from AOL to something less expensive.  I took the handicapped van to the grocery store today and a cab home.  Gave the driver a nice tip since he brought all my groceries upstairs.  I saved $10-25 today over what I had been paying my neighbor.  I have my cleaning gal coming tomorrow.  She is a neighbor who is out of work.  I may have to cut down to every two weeks.  I'm at the point where I'm thinking of applying for food stamps.  I would probably only get $10 or so a month, but with the prices on groceries, even that would help.

You are all so nice to let me know you are OK.  Carol I have saved your phone number so I will call when I can.  We are both still up tonight.  Don't know for how much longer.  Jerry had a Dr. appointment today.  I took him for blood tests on Wed.  One day earlier this week (I really don't remember what day it was I can't even keep track of Carol's phone number.)  Anyway I thought Jerry was in the bathroom.  Well, he was down stairs in his shop then went outside to saw down the tree with a HAND SAW.  He came in the house to get me to help him!  I almost beat him with the saw!  Enought of that.  The blood work came back high amonia after the saw incident I had no problem getting the lactalose down him. He likes it.  His amonia is no longer high.  BUT his blood is low.  I just don't understand that.  He has already had two blood transfusions.  When will it end???? The Dr. is going to wait a couple more weeks because Jerry really isn't feeling that bad.  Would I would like to know if any of you have done research on the live donor program.  Jerry's son is positive he wants to do it.  I would do it if I could but I don't have O blood and I'm too old.  Any feedback you can give me I would appreciate it.  The Gastro Dr. talked to us today but not at length.  I just keep getting the impression the Gastro Dr. are not to crazy about the procedure.  I sure would like to hear from someone that knows more about it.  Hope you all have sweet dreams.

 hi everyone, you had me laughing out loud reading some of theese posts, the dog thinks i,m crazy anyway. i just want to say what a  great sinse of humor you all have. i wish i would have found this forum when my father was sick i would have understood more of what was going on with his body, instead i found it the day after he passed, better late than never i guess. you all have a wealth of knowalge here to bad it has to be by life s experience. but now i can put two and two together and know why his body was doing what it was doing. last year when i had my blood work all done i had the dr do a liver panel on me because you never know. he didnt have hep or anything just because if it can happen to him it can happen to anybody. i,m mid 50 or so some people i knew when i was much younger then loved  to shot up drugs i wasnt perfect but never no needles hated that!! just wanted to say thank you to all and what a great job you all do for other people even with the problems you all have to, i just want to get back to work i,m a sub bus driver i really like it. well every body have a great day!! we will have to talk more.

Good show tonight, as they all have been.  I did miss the first 15 min., though, due to a phone call.  If anyone has missed the past episodes, they can be found on the ABC site online.  I wish they would carry this series into the fall.  I've heard that they have hundreds of hours of tape.
