Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I have some good news to share. It's off topic but I need to share it with my friends.

As you all have probably noticed I have been kind of scarce with my postings. I have been checking in everyday at work and reading everyones posts though. But why I have not been posting as much is because.............I am buying a home! Escrow opened today. And it should be less than a 30 day escrow. I am so excited I just had to share.yeah yeah


It's been a long hard search but I finally found one that I love. It's an oldie but a goodie.........kind of like me...but not so broken down ........LOL

So please forgive me for not posting a lot but know that I am always here reading and will post as often as possible.

I haven't been on much in the last few days.  Just got on to take a peek before I went to bed and saw your post.  That is so exciting.  A new house.  A new start!  What a great thing to share with all of us.  I'm off to bed but wanted to say CONGRATS.  Now the fun begins!  Flowers lots of Flowers!

PG, that is wonderful news!!  :-)   Thanks for sharing it with us.  You know, they don't make 'em as well as they once did.  I like the "oldies" myself...more character.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Pink Grandma, That is such great news. I am really happy for you. I agree with Connie. The older homes have much more character. I have always told my husband that older cars and houses have personality. You will probably have a lot of work cut out for you, packing and moving. We have been in our house a little over 10 years and we have accumulated so much junk it is unbelieveable.

Isn't it just GREAT to have something to look forward to?

 

I would always take an oldie over a new home!  Much more character!  New homes are often 'boxes'!  My oldest home had been built in 1887.  It was a fortress!  I loved it!

 

Good luck... wish I was there to give you decorating tips!!  :)

Congratulations on the escrow.  That is wonderful news!  Thirty days will be gone before you know it.  Then the fun begins.  Lets see... colors, decoration, flowers!  Maybe I should buy a new house and enjoy.  tongue Have a delightful time.

Thanks all! Let me try this again. I posted a reply last night and now I notice it went into internet space. I must have been in a fibro fog at the time because I didn't notice that it didn't take.

I can not wait to start working on the yard. It's not too large just my size.....something that I can take care of by myself. Boy is it going to be full of flowers. My granddaughters have already told me we have to make a Funny Papa garden at my new home. I'm going to take some of the flowers from here that my husband helped plant before he died and transplant them there.

As far as the inside there's a little work that needs to be done but I will work on that a little at a time. Some dummy painted over the beautiful hardwood floors in both bedrooms. nono

I need to replace some glass nobs on some of the doors, and on the built in china hutch and desk. That's if I can find any.

Pink Grandma, What were they thinking? Painting over hardwood floors!!! I have a friend that purchased a house that was over 100 years old and restored the hardwood floors. They are beautiful.

I am so glad you are getting to have some happiness in your life.

Hi PG Congrats on the house...... have fun with evrything u want to do. Glass knobs are not that hard to find even Home depot can order them or better yet...... secong hand stores and yard sales

Update, After a long roller coaster ride with escrow..........I finally signed the papers for the house last night..........It should close by Tuesday or Wednesday......Talk about stress........I haven't been this stressed since my husband died. I should be moving in on Friday......... smilewinkgrin

That's great news, PG!  For some reason, I thought you had already moved in...but I guess you have that great fun still ahead.  smilewinkgrin    It is stressful, so don't try to do everything at once.

That is very stressful, we sold our home and bought a double wide and put it on our 80 acres about 2 years ago.  We signed the papers on the double wide and sold the house about 2 days later,  then we had to hustle to get things ready, Jerry took off work for over a month just to get everything done, we both about went nuts.  Good luck with the closing and moving.  Congrats on the new home.

Congratulations on the house!!! Sounds like it has LOTS of character!! I cannot believe that someone would even think about painting on hardwoord floors....dummy is the right word!! As far as the glass doorknobs....I don't know where you live, but in my area there is a hardware store that has been in business since the dawn of time, and they have bins of doorknobs, etc that are unique...maybe somewhere near where you live you could find something like that. But, have fun planting, etc....!!!

Looks like it is closing tomorrow. It missed closing today by about 2minutes.

If indeed it closes tomorrow I may not have internet access until Saturday night. So don't be surprised if other mods post . I've asked for assistance thru Sat. night. Wish me luck........that I now survive the move. Not looking forward to that part. I HATE moving.

I finally got moved.......but my home internet is not connected yet..........so I can't post much from work.   I am just glad it is over with .....this old body has been hit by a Mack truck.   At least it feels that way.......

PG, glad you got moved!  Take your time unpacking, etc.  And I definitely understand the "Mack truck" feeling.  I expect to be feeling it again sometime next year when I am hoping to move to a senior complex.
