Can anyone explain the chronic cough from ESLD?

Hi Cordovian,

 

My husband has the chronic cough too and I have asked several doc's about it with NO clear answer, they have checked his lungs and can't find anything so I wish I could help you more but it just seems to be part of the disease shakehead .  Sometimes he coughs so hard that he chokes and it keeps him awake quite a bit, I bought a vaporizer and that didn't help either, maybe someone else has a good answer,

Well thanks any way..........my husband has never smoked, so I just chalked it up to the disease as well, but I would sure like to know why.
I guess the liver affects so many, many things within the body, why not the urge to cough?
What stage is your husband in?

Could his cough be from like sinus/allergy? I have been coughing alot lately at night when I lay down and then not so much during the day. I think mine is sinus/allergy related because I get a small headache with it also......... Something to maybe check out... Soonersfan1

My husband is currently a 17 MELD and testing to get on the transplant list, I do not believe his cough is due to allergies but have been concerned that it is fluid in his lungs!  How about your husband?
