Hello,

I am a 26 year old, who was diagnosed with Hep b when I was 17. about 4 years ago, I was having pain in my liver area and I got the tests done to which i was told that i was immune to Hep B. They also tested me for HEP A and C to be safe and I didn't have any of those either. I had an ultrasound of the liver and it was normal. The thing is I still have this pain in there. It is a frustrating pain as when I even press on that area, I dont feel anything. It is almost like I just feel something there. about 3 months ago, I went to see the doc again and my hep B immunity was reiterated. I was immune to it and the tests for the antigens was negative. My liver function tests are normal, and everything seems fine. I saw another doc who said he is a little concerned with the pain and he ordered some more liver function tests. he said we might need to do a biopsy.

Can someone tell me why they can't seem to find anything wrong with me. It is very frustrating.

I'm sorry that you are not feeling well. I don't know how helpful we can be but there is a lot of experience and knowledge in the forum members. They cannot replace good medical advice but might share their insights if possible. I'm no expert but I have had Hep A, B, and C, in addition to the pain caused by kidney and gall stones.

When you say that you have pain in the liver area, what exactly are you saying? Pain when you exert pressure? Pain when you move? Pain when you urinate? When you stretch?

Where exactly do you feel the pain? Front? Back? Left side? Right side? Where in relation to your ribs? Where in relation to your hip bone? There are many other things around the 'liver area'. The more specific you can be, the more we can respond.

Hi Odan,

Liver pain is extremely common with Heps - it means the diaphragm around your liver is inflamed. For me it can be a crippling side pain where I need to sit or lay down. A healthy diet has helped this problem a lot for me, a biopsy is the only way to determine the state of your liver.

If I out my hands under my ribs in the front on my right side and press (what my Hepatologist does) I can tell if my liver is inflamed by how much it hurts - or not.
