Hubby has passed away

Just to let you know that Alan passed away this morning (Sat) in hospital.

He had been getting frailer and was suffering with weeping legs in addition ot the ascites, jaundice, cirrhosis and HE.

Even so no one quite expected it so suddenly - he had just been given his breakfast and within five minutes had passed away in his chair.  The hospital called me which of course is the call no one ever wants to get.

I am full of so many emotions at the moment but I did want to thank everyone on the forum for the help and advice I have received over the last six months.  It is good to know that you are not alone.

Mrs Tomo,

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  I'm sure he's in a better place as far as his health goes.  You'll find a lot of continued support here.  It's so sad to lose the ones we love.

Mrs. Tomo, this is sad news, indeed.  I know it will take awhile to even accept the idea that he's no longer alive, and longer still to get past the pain and assimilate all your emotions.  Remember that we are always here for you.

Hello Mrs Tomo , Very sad to hear of your husbands passing . It's at times like this when words don't seem enough . Always remember you have support here on HW and try to stay positive .

Thank you all for your lovely messages.  It certainly helps to know I am not alone.

So much has happened over the last three days that I am do not know where I am.

Although Alan was in hospital for seven weeks before he died with knownd liver disease it  has today been decided to have a post mortem because his death was so unexpected.  I should know the results tomorrow but at the moment everything seems so surreal.

Has anyone any ideas why?

Mrs. Tomo, why he might have died?  It was probably a direct result of his liver disease, such as multiple organ failure or his heart gave out.

I'm sure it does seem surreal since it was not entirely expected at this time.  But if you think about his long hospitalization and struggle with liver disease, you will realize that it was a natural progression.  I hope that you can come to accept that.

Thank you Mary,  It has only been four days but even those have seemed surreal.  Today I closed myself off from the world and just cried all day but I had spent yesterday making calls and generally being hyper so was exhausted.

I feel better now that I kow the results of the post mortem - bronchopneumonia and chronic ALD.  Exactly what I thought so I can now go on with the funeral arrangements.

I had been following your messages and send my love to you.  Thank you.

I feel your loss my Boyfriend just passed away June 28,2011 he was doing treatment for hep c and was showing signs that the disease was gone. But now he is gone just like yours and we are here to make sense of it all. My bf was only 45 years old we have known each other since we were kids at the age of 14 and have been together for the last 7 years. I feel your pain and know what you are feeling and going thru and it is very difficult for the both of us. I just wanted to send some prayers your way and let you know we are grieving together.
