Dee1984, welcome to the forum. I am sorry that your father has chosen such a self-destructive lifestyle. Yes, what you are describing is alcoholic liver disease, probably end-stage from the symptoms you describe. His doctor and family need to make it clear to him that if he doesn't stop drinking he is going die...and it will be a very unpleasant death, to put it mildly. Perhaps he will change his mind about not stopping. If not, there's really nothing you can do except to refuse to enable his behavior, as in buying his alcohol for him or allowing him to drive.
Regarding him stealing from the family, if it's money he's stealing, just don't have much cash in the house and keep it hidden. Hide the ATM/debit cards, charge cards, blank checks, and anything else that he could use to buy alcohol. If there's not a safe place in the house, put it in the bank, get a safety deposit box....whatever you need to do to put a stop to the theft.
For an idea of what to expect, I recommend you read the information in the folder at the top of the page entitled Hepatitis Resources. It is about liver disease in general, not just viral hepatitis.
Hugs,
Connie
