HCV 1a, fibrosis, inflammation

Wanted to check in with y'all, it's been a while.

Dad had a heart attack while golfing on Saturday and survived the stint procedure and heart attack, they had to go up twice though. Now his newly diagnosed emphysema (he quit smoking 30 years ago but was heavy smoker for over 20 years prior) is bleeding? Anyway, he's coming home and I get to spend a few days with him & hopefully be somewhat of a help to him.

While I was enduring all the stress of my own illnesses & seeing my father nearly die twice, I called & got more results on the liver biopsy. I originally didn't want to know anything about my fibrosis or inflammation, just what grade my hcv 1a is at. With my Dad being so sick, I was curious, so I called for the rest of the results. Turns out I'm a stage 4 fibrosis & inflammation on a scale of 1-4. So HCV & inflammation are graded & fibrosis is staged, yes? I really wish that I didn't have all of this information sometimes, it gets quite confusing.

Not the time to tell my family about this news, I decided to post here in order to vent and perhaps get some feedback from someone else as sick as I am so we can have some support. I'm not able to go to support groups due to my health and now my dad's health. Kinda struggling over here & would love to talk to some people about their own combo hcv/fibrosis/inflammation, if anyone here has that combo. It sucks having to stave off the "hangover feeling/flu-like chit" all day long, and this pain is insane +I'm scared to take my pain meds for fear of further liver damage.

Your last post was mid April and said you were stage 2 and now you're at stage 4. That's a fast progression with your fibrosis. You also said you had started treatment for Hep C. Are you still on the treatment and if so, how is it going? Is your viral load undetectable and if not, has it gone down? Are you in a transplant program? I have done the interferon/ribavirin therapy, twice. It's no fun, but I refuse to let a virus run my life. At present I'm undetectable, but that's only been for 5-6 months. I had labs today, so next week, I'll find out if the virus is present, or not. If you could answer some questions, that should give us more to talk about.

Been way stressed with boatloads of stuff, I didn't write that lastpost correctly, my writing and comprehension abilities aren't quite up to par.

the hcv 1a is a grade 2. Found out today, that my fibrosis and inflammation levels aka stage is ata 4. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Treatment has been delayed by both a kidney stone and cyst that need to be removed. As I only have pain, and high creatine (sp?) levels, and the kidney is working, they wanted to wait until my ribs healed before ridding my stone & cyst, they hurt a lot. Liver doc won't start treatment until these are taken care of. So July is my new treatment starting month: exactly 12 months to the day when I fell ill last July with the hcv and multiple rib fractures surrounding my severely swollen liver. This is taking forever.

Ya, my pleasure. It's hard to think most of the time anymore. Hopefully your ulcer heals quickly - when do they expect you to begin treatment?
