lactulose

howdy y'all!

Made our trip back home to sunny cal - where the other half of our family and friends are - trip that sick was wicked hard to recover from but so worth it!

Already thinking MEGA clearly - from a sugar of all things - anyone else here take lactulose? Seriously, I don't even need or take the add med that wound up fogging my brain out more than help, YAY!

Surgery within days to finally repair third recurring umbilical hernia (woohoo) and finally decent pain control (chronic pain - didn't know anything about that either, feel stupid).

So, anyone take that & have it help that ”brain fog?” I had no idea how bad my thinking was till I used it - was unaware for the most part it even happening, not THAT darn bad, gee?

y'all tc - enjoy life for all its worth - there really are good hcv-fibrosis docs out there! Ah yes, they still get to have a sit-down with us as to why after the ultra sound they keep calling it cirrhosis - isnt that later stage stuff? Heck i've been wicked, wicked sick for many moons with chronic liver disease manifestations, but how on earth can a person go from fibrosis to cirrhosis in like April this year till now? That will be very interesting to learn - eager to do everything i've been doing and anything more I can, to make my enzymes stop doing the ”loop-de-loo” (up, up, way up, down, up, etc.)

Is there something I should be aware of before they sit us down? Can fibrosis stage 2, inflammation grade 4, turn THAT quickly? Not going to worry, just, I find that outrageous - anyone here even hear how something could advance that quick? I'm sure they can help, I'm not doing anything wrong to accelerate things that quick, at all. Wonder if it's the psych meds? Might be, as they told us that I'd need off of some - asked if I was willing, I'm like you know it! Miss liver friendly here, albeit a bit late and probably impossible with the bipolar and chronic pain meds. I still believe in quality of life, always will, if only over a suffering longevity.

Ok then! Take care guys n gals - so happy we have landed safe and sound, and counting blessings for the decision to move - for many, many reasons - not just health - it's great to be home with friends and family!

Finding so very many others out there just like me - I'd like to take a moment to wish each of you well in your journey with hcv - and to not isolate - may you all recover and-or live fully. There's life beyond the doom some find in hcv-fibrosis hell.

Mike went down hill gradually, but mostly over the 1.5 years from his CRASH to his transplant.

Once he was sober, he improved a lot...for a while.

The HE is difficult. But I can notice from your post how much better you are feeling.

Hopefully you will get on a regime at a transplant center that works well with you.

Hi, Shadow. I can also see that you are thinking more clearly. I think just about everyone here knows about Lactulose. It is used for hepatic encephalopathy (HE) to remove ammonia in the brain. Sometimes you will find that you need to take more than prescribed, but that's okay. You can't overdose on it. You can use the Search feature in blue above posts, put in Lactulose and you will bring up MANY posts about it.
