 For David those 3 miles flew by quickly , Mastodon's and Wooly mammoths giving chase doesn't make lots of room for bare feet complaints .

P.S : Romney or Obama both are usefull idiots ( Tools ) . A puppet cant control it's own actions .

Wow u lot, been reading especially WNH I am in UK felt like I as reading my own words, problem will be when u want to go back to work & u take your salary then divide it by mortgage, concil tax water rates T.V Licence Gas,Electric Travel cost to & from work, & that small thing we all need to survive is FOOD, clothes, shoes, oh & Chilcare Charges, we need to earn prime ministers wage. This Country is a laughing stock, we even give child care allowance to Polish people to send back home, I am in no way racist to anyone, who s allowed in, but should be only for work purpose. I also have worked since I was 16 paid contributions etc, & am told I can live on £55.00 a week about $75.00, I get my medication from my own contributions, apart from my chronic illness this also worries me to
no end. I had to sell my car etc. I worked for a big supermarket over here , Tesco, I used to serve people not sure wot nationality but they had a card they gave to us when the purchased ther shopping it was swiped by us, and on they went to their free accommodation etc, as you can see this is a.....joke (had change wot I said then) it's now -2 degrees tonight and we are going to get snow, even more of a downer, anyway guys I have started taking my Lactulose as prescribed, if it wasn't for this site I would never have known how important it was, just a simple syrup yet so important, my swelling in tummy going down and apart from putting the world to right I do actually feel a bit livelier, still only 2/3 hrs sleep, got about another 2 hrs & I may get them in, and its time to get up and start a fresh, there is an old song over here that's come to mind with a lot of us having similar chronic if not fatal illness, it's called 'One day at a time sweet Jesus' I think I'll google it now don't know if it might be a little depressing, I'll give it a go, am sure I'll laugh if it is.

How ignorant am I of course it in USA I am not a religious person but I do have faith, when I go to Jacksonsville Ala. we go to my families church which is gosspall, I really enjoy it, my cousin married a G.I 40 years ago, she met him over here on an American base, she never looked back, when we go we are the only white people at church & they are truly beautiful people the site I found for you to look at One day at time (lyrics) on utube under albertong 2009 it has had 352,814 views there are other but I like this one, I found myself, er not sure how I feel will think about it !!

 Sue , My sentiments exactly . I grew up heavily involved in the church and comfortable with my understanding of what God requires of me , The church I see today is not the church I feel comfortable with . I could give many reasons but that's not important . For me the fundamental message rings clear in my belief , We were created by love to be loved . For me this simple statement sums up all commandments and the lessons to be learned . It's something we each should carry in our hearts and souls daily , The church is inside you . The question is , How will you use GODS house through out your life to the end of your days ?  smilewinkgrin

Me and my fiancé have been talking about going to church together. We were both born into the same religion but both of us stopped going years ago before we met each other. We need to get a car first as we live about ten miles from the nearest English speaking service (seriously in our area every single one is said in polish).

We were like you Sue, we had to sell our car but this was because I had become unemployed a few months beforehand and we could no longer afford the insurance and petrol (gas to you guys in the USA), petrol is very expensive here.

Anyway if you just get on a plane and come to the uk you can get to the top of the housing list that other people have been waiting on for years. Your kids will get free education, healthcare, food, heating etc etc its a joke. No wonder workers can't afford to pay their bills. Oh and the government sold off the water and trains etc years ago so companies can charge as much as they want for what crap "services" they provide. But don't work 1 day in your life and the government bend over backwards to make sure you have a nice comfy life.

Life is not fair, it sucks yet the thing is if all the workers quit their jobs tomorrow there would be no money for the government to hand out to the lazy buggers and the country would be on its knees.

Sorry to keep ranting but after I was told my jobseekers money was stopping having claimed for a measly 26 weeks (after working almost 17 years) but the job market decided I could keep signing on, BRILLIANT! Lol so I was expected to shell out almost 4 quid each time on the bus to and from the Jobcentre, to and from job interviews and also any stupid training courses they would make me go on, but receive no money. I cancelled one appointment as I didn't have the bus fare, she said oh would you like me to rearrange it for you? I said "I've just cancelled because I am six and a half months pregnant and i don't have the bus fare and we are trying to live off one wage and you want to rearrange the appointment!"
I also don't qualify for any maternity allowance off our lovely government as "I haven't worked for 26 weeks in the last 1.5 years". So you work from the day you leave school at 16 up until just after your 34th birthday (when life deals you a cruel blow and you find yourself jobless) then you have to jump through hoops to get Jobseeker's Allowance which you have earned, but they put you on contributions based jobseekers which entitles you to £130 a fortnight for 26 weeks (whoop whoop) then you are made to feel worthless when it ends. But the people signing before you in the queue can't speak a word of English and are allowed government paid interpreters and can claim for as long as they want to as they are put on income based Jobseeker's Allowance. They then claim for their five kids and like due said the half of their kids don't even live in the uk. Joke joke joke. My fiancé got paid on Friday, we bought groceries (finally!) as I had been living off a box of breakfast cereal and a loaf of bread for three days it felt so good to have some proper food again.

So last week I got a nice little love letter from the council again, we don't have the money to pay their extortionate council tax so hi ho hi ho its off to court we go (presumably) and now I'm wondering how many people who can't speak a word of English are taken to court over the same thing and I think I can answer that one myself, 0.

Sue not due, silly auto correct I am sorry about that.

I won a lovely big cheesecake yesterday from a catering company for my mother so that lifted my spirits a bit and hers too! She's collecting it today :-) isn't it funny how the smallest of things can really put a smile on your face :-)

 Why don't you Brits invade the U.S ? At least I can reasonably understand most of what your saying , All of you need to get together and just say " I quit " . Flip parliament and the house of commons off and do a mass exodus . As your half way across the Atlantic you'll see our boats carrying our congress members , Be sure to smile and wave !!!

Our politicians seem to be so infatuated and praiseful of the way things are going over there that it only seems fair to shell out our tax dollars on a permanent vacation for all of them .

A hearty welcome to our shores my new English friends !!!!! Maybe , Just maybe we can turn one of our countries around in a sensible direction through a combined effort . tongue   And don't forget to bring some of that cheesecake with you .

I think your congress need to come over here and work full time jobs on minimum wage for six months and see how long it takes before their resentment of the British government kicks in. It wouldn't take long!
No government has ever backed up the workers here as far back as I can remember in my lifetime. Sure when minimum wage was first introduced people's wages were cut by their employers because the workers were being paid over the hourly amount! Middle earners are hit really hard these days too, their taxes are huge. Ok I have home Internet and yeah that can be seen as a luxury but I live so far from home and its the best way to keep in touch with the folks :-) all paid for by my fiancé bless him :-)

She hasn't got the cheese cake yet but she will have later :-) she says she will be thinking of me when she's tucking into a big slice :-) she's going to have to share it around loads of people because its a biggie :-) they will be eating it for a good few days lol

I'm afraid turning our countries around is an impossible task Ziffle, too many cracks in both systems for sure!

You are in a fix for sure. But only you and your fiance can work through this. Moaning about the unfair system won't fix it. Since you have the computer, is there work you can do at home?

Some of us Brits do feel very positive about life by the way in case people were wondering!

Sue - you said in your post that you pay for your medication. I just wanted to make sure you have checked that you don't fall into any of the categories that get the prescriptions free. As well as people under 18, over 60, pregnant women etc many people on certain benefits qualify for free prescriptions. If you don't qualify for free ones then it is worth looking at buying a 'season ticket'. This covers for all your prescriptions for either 3 months or a year. For the yearly one you can pay over 10 months. It costs £104 per year - or £10 a month. The proper name for the season ticket is Pre Payment Certificate if you want to google it.

Given that the system here is that if we do pay for our prescriptions we only pay just over £7.50 per item, regardless of its actual cost, then on average if you get more than 14 items a year you are better off getting a season ticket.

I've heard that the taxes in the UK are enormous...to pay for all the free stuff, even if you are not among those receiving it. And the same thing is happening over here.

Worried, you have some legitimate complaints, but it's just not worth getting yourself so upset by them. You need to stay on an even keel for both your own health and that of your baby.

Sorry Ann when I said my own contributions I meant I have paid all my National Insurance contributions all the years I've worked, this meaning I do not pay now Iam ill, could you imagine I get 9 different lots of meds every 2 weeks, getting back to what WNH & I were stating these people allowed in, drink themselves /drugs to near death, get best care too, we do have people on the same catageroy here who also claim benefits & don't want to work. Anyway when Iam well my family in Alabama want to pay for my holiday/vacation for me to rest in the sunshine, I will bring you the best recipe for a black cherry & blueberry cheesecake.
