Glad to hear she is doing well Brian. I wish yo had family in the area so you could spend more time there, but you are doing very well for your situation from the sounds of it. I think Connie and a few others have mentioned that the steroids she will be on will give her alot of false energy, probably why she is talking a mile a minute.

Brian, she is going to be on a boat load of meds for a long time.

One of them is the evil prednisone. When I'm on the prednisone I want to clean ceilings at 3AM. It makes you hyper and such...its to help with healing.

I remember I talked with Connie soon after her transplant and she was talking 500 miles an hour.

Good JQ is done with surgery and and starting on the road to recovery. They'll get her up as soon as they think it is safe. Usually pretty quickly.

Yeah, not a fan of the prednasone. That stuff messed her up pretty bad when she was in Korea. Just hope she can get in a place soon where she can see her daughter again. That will lift her spirits more than anything.

Good news man. So happy everything went well. Hope you continue to travel this smoother road. Amazing to think science can take someone's else's liver and save your wife's life. Have a quiet evening.

I am with Carol, I hope all is well and a quick update is coming. My wife who does not use these forums has been asking. I caught her up on your story and she was so glad to hear she got her transplant.

Went to see wife tonight. Neck Transfusion lines and catheter are already out. Jaundice gone and her facial swelling almost unnoticeable now. She had an alive glow that I haven't seen in over 2 months. She got her first meal in two weeks. She doesn't remember much from the past two weeks, but she remembers everything else prior. They moved her to a recovery unit tonight. Surgeon told me she will go back to Walter Reed around Monday. My wife is back, and she is back to stay.

Today the final drain tube came out. All she has left now is an IV line. They're moving her back to Walter Reed in the next day or two (thank God. The nurses there were the best). I didn't realize the initial recovery would go so fast. She is doing great.

Thank goodness you posted.  I am waiting and worrying all day.  But this is great news...back to Walter Reed. Perfect. They will move her by ambulance, right?

How is the baby? Is she able to come with you to the hospital?

Brian, I'm so happy to hear that everything is going well. Recovery is actually a slow process, mainly eliminating meds as she goes along, regaining strength, etc. But JK is certainly doing great and hopefully she will keep moving forward.

Still waiting to find out details. They moved her by ambulance last time and me by Walter Reed van. I am sure they will make it last minute and well after the check-out time at my hotel.

Baby is doing great. Just started on solid foods.

I can bring the baby as far as the waiting room, but my wife is usually ambulatory enough to go out there and see the baby. Once we are back at Reed, we will be able to spend as much time in her room as we want.

Same when Mike was post TP. One of the grandchildren was in Florida with his daughter for a quick visit when THE call came, so we had a 5 year old in the hotel with us. They let her come to a lounge and he visited with her there. She was glad he was ALIVE. He even showed her his "Zipper." Lots of staples

I am sure it will be last minute.

Things are going well at Walter Reed. Wife is ecstatic with the care she is receiving there. The doctors want to get her achalasia fixed ASAP so she can begin eating normally again. She is having trouble keeping much food down; its been a problem now for quite some time. I am still in Baltimore, but will be leaving tomorrow for Bethesda to be back with her.

My friend left today to fly back home. She helped take care of my daughter for a few days and got her started on solid foods, while I got some time to relax for a change.

The new concern is becoming the timeline of my wife's care after they discharge her. Planning to take my daughter back to Korea soon to clean up the gigantic list of loose ends there, so we can return to DC semi-permanantly. We're going discuss how we can keep my wife under some sort of full time care until my return to DC, at which point I can have living arrangements set up for all of us.
