Since my last update, possibly good news regarding Sovaldi treatment and me!

Don't give up with Gilead Canada and when you call them they will always say "Whats your name and number and we will call you back" but if you have already faxed them the forms signed by your doctor just tell them outright "I need to speak to a caseworker now as I desperately need these meds, I cannot be available to have you call me at work or wherever and discuss this around other so please let me speak with a caseworker and I will remain on hold until one is free"

Trust me!! I went through all of this weeks ago with Gilead and began treatment February 6th and I got 80% coverage through Sunlife Financial right away but when I agree to pay $3000 out of pocket they covered me 100%

Just like TonyInTo I was trembling and shaking and yes I was crying at times and was very emotional but persistence paid off and I got the Sovaldi+Ribavirin delivered. Just last month my specialist claimed I would have to wait 2-3 years to get these drugs…we came home and did our own homework and had found the DIN# and many phone calls later I am now being treated.

I'm from Canada also guys...

BTW for anyone here on Galexus ( AKA Simeprevir/Olysio) in Canada. Did you discuss or have the Q80K test before beginning?

Hey John, Glad you joined. While I can answer much on the subject of the treatment I'm sure someone will be along to give you their input. Once a thread has been started like the one you responded to it's easy for some of us to overlook new comers. I'd like to invite you to start a new thread (Post) about the subject to get as much feedback as possible. We are always looking for new trials. Tell us what you know or have heard.

Kind of A-backwards for me. The nurse at Toronto Western told me to contact Manulife first to request a fax for the Dr. to authorize coverage. She then told me that if I had to deal with copays (yes I do 20%) that Momentum would help with that. So I suppose when I hear back from Manulife next week and if they fax the forms, I will then wait for my consult. If the Dr. says it's a "go" I will contact Momentum to negotiate copay assistance.
So much to navigate eh?? :)
BTW Manulife told me they do have the DINs now listed for Sovaldi and Galexos.

Sovaldi has a website you can go on and get help with paying for this very expensive drug. My husband is about ready to start the treatment and we went to www.mysupportpath.com and applied. It only takes a few minutes. We received a copy coupon which covers all but $5.00. You can also call 1-855-769-7284 Mon through Friday 9am to 8pm eastern time. It is worth doing.

@Tony--have fingers and toes crossed in FL~- US for Sovaldi and Olysio w/o Inf or Riba. Post TP clinic called today and feel certain Medicaid (state ins for low income...Mike has been too sick to work for years.) will come through in next days . I think that is considered off label for now. Mike is 1a. Post tp. Failed Inf/Riba in a trial in 2003.

I'd like to congratulate momma and mike on getting there scrips and hope everything works out well or better for them. I to just received my sovaldi yesterday and have to go and get my olysio (Canadian name galexos) from the clinic. I'm told next week. I did the interferon ribivin for a year about 6 years ago and yes it failed. this time looks a lot more promising. short treatment time and it looks like a cake walk for side effects with a much higher cure rate. the interferon knocked the crap out if me. my diagnosis came about 10 years ago and started out with a intermittent lower right abdominal pain. after 2years of countless tests doctors and my appendix removed I guess one of the doctors did a hep c test. my abdominal pain has become very severe, symptoms seem to look like gallbladder. tests show no blockage but 2 small stones. my doctors tell me and I have read that my severe liver problems (geno 1a stage4) will cause gallbladder problems. the last seven days were really rough, feeling much better today but the pain never goes away. one of the side effects of the sovaldi are a low platelet count. mine is realy low. I will talk to my doctor on this one. thanks for the post I will try and keep up. new to forums and this one looks to grow bigger by the day. easy to get lost lol. good luck to all dougintoont

I think mommas and mikes post is about the 18th post in mikes sovaldi.
as far as your copay goes not sure whats going on there. I dealt with momentum for the sovaldi and was told of a 18% discount and further depending on the urgency or your diagnosis. everytime I spoke with someone I was told of a different price. but momentum told me I was 18000 short so I looked up some options in the Ontario health programs. one of the places is called (eap) exceptional access program. well after about 3 days of a merrygoround I finally found a lady at eap and she had a few answers. I made a second call to her the next day left a message had a few more questions. the next day she didn't get back to me but my nurse did and said the Dr called in and I was accepted and the rep will call me. she did the same day and the sovaldi was couriered out the next day to me. now trying to find someone at the government that had the proper info was next to impossible and what they said made no sense half the time. genevieve at the eap told me that my doctor could phone in the information. I said on the web sight I read it as you needed to be accepted odb ontario drug benefit to get this you need triilium. nope!!! so I phone my nurse up gave her the info and said I hope they didn't mind me doing this and didn't want make any waves. she said no no keep on it the more info you get the better for me and maybe others. I know there so busy there and probably don't have the time to research this stuff. the info is always changing and I think this eap if I read it right started in nov 2013. well I don't know if I had anything to do with the results or not but I sure am happy with them and should start next week. they maxed out my drug plan for the rest of the year so I will be applying to trillium for any other meds that come up. I wish everone else the same results or better. keep on them and if you can't get any satisfaction handcuff yourself to there desk lol good luck!!!!
