Realtor: New to focum. On Sovaldi/Riba Treatment for Hep C, Genotype 2

Hi,
Thank you so much for your blog.
I am a 59 year old male with hep c type 2.
I am on day 40 of Sovaldi & Riba for the most part it has been tolerable the RIBA is tough for me, Fatigue headaches stomach cramps insomnia, it is tolerable and I hope and pray saving my life.
I was diagnosed over 40 years ago and maintained annual blood work ultrasounds and 3 biopsies 2 years ago my enzymes were elevated and my viral load was 14 million stage 3 of 4. Late last year my doctor said I was a perfect candidate for the new treatment.
I am a little concerned I got the results from my 30 day blood work my enzymes were good my viral load was 108 my doctor said in the trials that over 92 pct were non detectable. Doctor said we will do 60 day blood and hopefully levels are down or God willing non-detectable.
Any one who can share there experience strength and hope I would appreciate the support. I am trying to remain positive!

You and all of the people on the new treatments are very lucky. You're not having to use interferon and the new treatment seems to working for almost everyone trying it. The side effects are relatively minimal and it's a shorter period of time to suffer them. Stay with it, you'll get there.

I've been seeing more and more people with a really low number like that on early tests instead of Undetectable. I, myself, was at 105 on week two and still detected at four weeks, but it was less than 15.
I'm not sure what this really means at this point, since it's still early and this is still pretty new.
I have come across one person who has gone Undetected after a result like this, but there isn't a lot out there to compare it to. I've also been watching some other people with these same type of results.
I'm on day 44 (looks like you're right behind me!) and will be testing again on the 1st, so it looks like we'll get some more info then, too :)

Hi realtor, I also have Genotype 2 and am starting Week 7 of treatment tomorrow morning. I have been having some of the side effects you mention like headache, fatigue, stomach cramps but in the end it will all be worth it!

My viral load was originally 4.7 million and after 30 days it had dropped to 79 so by now its probably at ZERO so each day I just try to keep positive and keep reminding myself the extra 6 weeks I have left will be the death of this virus hopefully forever.

The best we can do is remain positive and be thankful for having access to what I consider a revolutionary drug, it reminds me of how polio was taking lives and they cured it and now we have hepatitis C being cured....truly amazing.

I really appreciate having this forum all of a sudden I don't feel alone and there are a few of us really close on number of days of treatment.
I agree this treatment could be way worse, I am blessed to have this opportunity.
Today was a good day walked on the treadmill for 50 minutes at a 10 incline that's the best I can do because of shortness of breath I was running 5 miles every other day prior to treatment,I won't be running any miles if I'm dead.
Was tired this afternoon so I took a nap. I had 3 good meals ands I just took my 600 mg. of RIBA.
I will blog everyday please continue respond to me it really helps.

Hi there realtor. I'm new to the forum and I also have hep c 2b. I will be starting the ribavirin and sovaldi treatment this Saturday. I vary rarely take any type of medicine so needless to say I'm pretty nervous as to how I will react. I plan on starting a news feed when I start treatment Sat. I wish you the best.

Don't lose hope yet! That is still a huge drop in VL.

My Sovaldi adventure starts tomorrow. I am also 2b.

Good news to all of us who are getting really low VL numbers on early tests!
One of the people I mentioned I was watching with these same type of results just went Undetected at week 8. Week 4 was still detected for her, but less than 15.

Hi....also new to this forum. Wondering if either Steve or Realtor have any updates? I'm on week 8.5 and have just received my 4 week test results. Apparently I'm still detectable however the numbers are so low they can't actually get a reading. The doctor won't see the results until tomorrow as the clinic is staffed daily by nurse practitioners (they are fantastic). However the nurse practitioner wasn't even sure what to say. I'm Gen 1 and my load was ridiculously high. I'm on the sov/riba/interferon combination. My concern is that the nurse mentioned she wasn't sure if they would stop treatment because the virus is supposed to be undetectable.

I don't test again until 7/29 (12 weeks after finishing meds). I was undetectable at weeks 8 and 12, but <15 Detected at week 4. If you're <15 but detected at week 8, I would be totally surprised if they stopped treatment. You're close to undetected and still have a bit to go.
