solvaldi and copegus treatment?

Hi there. I've seen a lot of people on here doing the solvaldi and riboferon treatment, but has anyone done the solvaldi and the copegus? I'm 33 female and have had Hep c since I was about 15. I have genotype 2b and I've been approved for medication. I have an appointment to see the nurse on Thursday to go over the meds and get the medication. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

hi monkey0626, copegasys is ribavirin. many here are doing the same tx. ribavirin is generic name. read thru the threads for sovaldi and ribavirin. some of the other type 2 patients will probably chime in. welcome aboard

M0626...welcome to the forum. We are folks and loved ones of folks with liver diseases of all kinds. I'm glad you have found us as so many of our members are having great success treating their hepatitis C.

My partner has had Hep C for over 40 years and is finally getting treated. He has had aliver transplant and is new liver is damaged already. After 4 weeks on Sovaldi and Olysio, the regimen recommended for his 1a, interferon intolerant status. We sure hope this works. He is having few side effects so this has been a pretty smooth ride.

Keep us up to date on your treatment, your labs and your side effects.

Yhave some to the right place.

Thanks mama lama. I will post more after Thursday when I see the doctor and go over how to take the meds. Nervous but excited to start. Hope all is well as it can be for you and your partner.

Good afternoon monkey0626. I have type 2b and on my 3rd week of RIBA and sovaldi. Things are going great for me so far. I was so nervous and scared at the beginning and trying to get through the first dose was nerve racking for me. People on here can tell you about my nerves and panic attacks, but I managed to make it through the first week with everyone's support on here. Great group of people on here. Good luck and looking forward to your posts so we can help each other.

I went and picked up my meds and start in the morning 1 solvaldi and 2 ribavirin in the morning with breakfast and 2 ribavirin with dinner...please wish me good luck...excited and a little scared.. Thanks!

Hi Monk, I'm the miz. The 64oz of water per day will help with any side fx. Also, if you are like a lot of folks with Riba, you will get stomach stuff...gas and heartburn. Ask your doc for clarification, but Omeprazole daily will help with that. Omeprozole is and antacid, about the same as Prilosec or Prevacid.

As a genotype 2 you you will treat for 12 weeks, correct? I posted some things today about Riba Rage....which is something to be aware of, but not be worried about. At 12 weeks of treatment, you may not experience this at all. Some people get a rash with Riba. Everyone has their own favorite cream for rash. His was a prescription cream Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0.025%. Hot shower makes it worse, so keep that cool.

Most side fx from Riba, other than the gas and heartburn stuff, come later in treatment. The 12 weeks treatment is right about the time the side's start becoming difficult...so I do not predict any problems at all for you. My husband treated 6 months....twice.... with the old Interferon/Riba combo. It really was barbaric. 12 weeks? Piece 'a cake ;) Just pop in here and ask if you have anything concerning at all. Much experience on this site. ppm (Barry), is very knowledgeable about treatment's and new things in the pipeline.

Don`t look for something that isn`t there . I bet 80 % of the sides that you MAY experience you`ve had many times before treatment . You will know when you get a bad one but itching heartburn and farting in church is no big deal.
I have a dozen days left and still no Riba rage. I`ve read here I`m in the " Zone " for that now time wise.
So if you see a guy on CCN hanging off the CN in Toronto screaming at the world it may be me ? ( Or Rob Ford ) If not I got through it.

Going on week 3...had my first blood test and will know in about a week. I've been feeling a little tired, but I also started working again doing outside tree cleanup or brush cleanup work which is very physical. I also have been feeling a little anxious at times. Sleeping habits have been okay. I noticed that after eating chocolate I get a little queasy. Will let you know about the blood test soon. Hope all is well with everyone!

Hi monkey, only thing I can add is to be sure and eat right before your ribavirin...it helped me avoid any acid stomach..one time was enough and haven't had it since. You can do this. Glad you found this group for support. Look forward to your labs.
