I am currently on my second week of a trial of Tenofovir TDF vs TAF (Until the end of the trial, I will never know which one I am treated with). As mentioned, Tenofovir is basically generic for Viread. For the most part, it is the same thing.
Make sure to keep an eye on your bon density as well as your kidney functions.
You also need more tests, other than viral load numbers, to determine if this is chronic or if this is recent. If it's recent, you need to give your body 6 months to clear and try to rest. Unfortunately, mine has turned into an active chronic infection.. which means that the virus slowly reproduces itself. My last number said 23 million for the load.
If you feel weak and tired, I'd suggest Vitamin D. Get a lot of it. Your body will not have enough due to this virus. I currently do 10,000iu a day. Doctors said to reduce it but I know I still need it, at least until I get outside more.
As for side effects, it ranges form person to person. Right now, I just had felt nauseous the past few days when waking up. Didn't have that the first week but started the second week. Also, you may get dizzy on this. I had to switch my times I take it because I did feel somewhat dizzy about 20 minutes after taking it. Now I take it before bed. It's important to take this with food.
Hope I am of help. I'd also suggest maybe seeing someone from the hepb.org site, if there is one in your area.
