I am a 33 year old male Indian. 20 days back I met my Doctor for fever with severe headache. Doctor advised for LFT (Liver Function Test). Results were:

Total Bilirubin:                   1.5mg/dl

Direct Bilirubin:                 0.6mg/dl

Indirect Bilirubin:               0.9mg/dl

Doctor confirmed that I have Jaundice and Advised to take Liv52 and Tab.UDILIV300 and Hepamerz. I was completely on diet. Now after 10 days when I check for LFT (Liver Function Test). Results are:

Total Bilirubin:                   1.2mg/dl

Direct Bilirubin:                 0.4mg/dl

I wanted to check if the test results are normal and what is my liver condition and do I still have Jaundice or not. Do I still have to continue diet and take rest?.

Last night I had severe itching, I don't know why.

We don't encourage nor debate the use of miracle cure liver cleanses here. I strongly suggest you remove or edit said "cleanse" or face having the entire post removed. Your doctor is a quack if he told you to use that stuff.

Do you have any other blood serum data or other forms of data you can include (US/CT?MRI results, etc). What you show is limiting for assessment but does indicate cholestasis.

Sorry to mention the name. I didn't know that.

here are the other data of my report.

Bilirubin Total  1.2mg/dl

Bilirubin Direct 0.4mg/dl

Total Proteins   5.1g/dl

Albumin           3.0g/dl

Globulin           2.1g/dl

SGOT               36 IU/L

SGPT               30 IU/L

Alkaline

   Phosphatase  54 IU/L

philomen - As Ziff & David indicated, a real doctor is hopefully involved with you, snake-oil potions are not tolerated. Your new numbers show what appears to be malnutrition? While the total protein, albumin and globulin levels are lower than normal, the A/G ratio remain healthy (from a liver function standpoint) at 1.4. Clearly we're missing additional info on you?

It could be Gilbert's Syndrome. It is a benign condition. I have it and my doctors are never concerned about it. Your other lab tests seem fine. I would avoid cleanses as everyone else has suggested and simply eat well and try to exercise. Avoiding any alcohol would be a good idea as well. Have your bloods rechecked in a couple months. I would try to see a different doctor though.

I believe I posted one of these . I hope someone tells me when my skin changes color to me it always looks the same. Right now I'm dealing with HE I have taken about twice the amount of lactulose than necessary. It has not helped . Yet the mayo clinic. has no idea what to call it possible chronic hepatitis. They saw me when having HE . And now brain, speach . They out ruled Gilberts disease.

Dany - Interesting that you have it along with AIH - to me anyway (for my own autoimmune/PSC knowledge base), bad that you have the additional aggravation as well, of course. In philomen's case, his direct bilirubin is drifting to the slightly elevated levels beyond normal, but Gilbert's reduces the effectiveness of the conjugation process so these elevations in the direct portions should not occur. Are you getting this elevated conjugated bilirubin and do your doctors think your AIH may have something to do with it? Again, just curious.

They've never been concerned about it. The highest my total bili has gone, with no other changes, was just over 2. Way after treatment was started (bili was sky high prior to diagnosis). I can't remember off the top of my head what the breakdown was. But my hep just says, it's probably just Gilbert's and leaves it at that. My sister, who has MS, was recently told she has Gilbert's too. Just found on routine labs and they (different doc up in Canada) aren't concerned about it either.
Maybe I'll look into my levels more closely. On the plus side, I joined a study and they'll be reviewing all my records at some point :) We'll see if they think anything of it.
