Themister spent the last couple of days having his annual transplant center scans, labs, and tx Hepa visit.

I spent the last two days waiting, driving, and waiting, and waiting. I don't fancy fear much, and fear is always my companion in the waiting rooms. Knowing what "that scan" may show, or, that lab might say, I just find it, unsettling. After 4 years of this, it should not bug me. It still does.

Again, as in the last visit, themister is stable. This is as good as we can hope for. That makes today a great day! MELD does not change, mid-teens continue to trend.... he remains on the list. No HCC (yay, yay!!) but the edema is a bit too pitting. So we get two new, little pretty pills. Lasix and Aldactone. Themister and I have not seen anything resembling ankles for some time. This should be interesting.

Themiz, good luck with the new shiny pills and yes, seeing his ankles will be something to look forward to for sure! Heads up though, you may have him complaining about his sore nipples in a couple of months or so, it's always gotta be something doesn't it!

I took those for years. Stinks, but you do whatever it takes.

Get TEDs, too. They make a difference and your legs feel better. Twelve hours a day, max. I wear mine (when needed) in the daytime. Some people sleep in them.

I'm glad to hear themister is stable. I know from experience that being a caregiver is very hard. You feel helpless. Being sick is comparatively easy. You are helpless.

Miz, I really enjoy taking lasix and aldactone. They have not caused any kidney issues, and I get to have normal sized legs and ankles for most of the time.

I am wondering if themister was told to take the diuretics at a particular time of day?

Stable did someone mention stable?? I haven't seen that place in years... decades maybe...

The Miz... Good to hear themister is stable this appointment! Hopefully, the diuretics will do the trick and give some relief. Sending positive thoughts to both of you.

Thanks to each of our forum friends for the kind reply. The dose is low the doctor said, taken in morning. Generics....20mg Furosemide, 50mg Spironolactone. Good news! We see ankles and some bones ;) !! This is cool. Big Hugs

That's great themiz, he's got to be feeling pretty good right now. I remember when I could actually start seeing the extra little details (veins,ligaments,etc) coming back while taking showers for instance and immediately knew I was going to have a good day. It's the littlest things that can make such a big difference.
