Insurance!! Drives me nuts. Yet this is a major issue we have when liver disease raises it's head in our family. Worthy of discussion here.
@Mama, I remember when I was in the above change and simply, frantic. Between the two of us in our home, everything changed multiple times. We went from employer paid insurance to Medicare and supplemental (employer paid), then straight Medicare when the employer dropped the plan. We are a household, and as such do not qualify for any special help or low income help. Trust me, this does not equate to wealth. We do have assets still. At the time themister became disabled I was retired. We saw Medicare eligibility close enough for him to hopefully, ride that out, selling a lot, but keeping just enough. It worked, yet we moved and changed doctors. Both of us. It was a process I kicked and screamed through. He was sick, though, and it had to be done.
@David. I see with Medicare eligibility in MA, you might have a Medicare Advantage plan BC/BS, or a supplemental plan of some sort? I am not sure how Romney care factors into Medicare eligible. Enlighten me ;) I do like people to be covered, and doctors/hospitals to make it less difficult to be critically ill.
I looked at Mass General and I see they do accept both Medicaid and Medicare patients, as well as most insurance. So your doctors and hospital likely will never be a problem for you, regardless of your insurance type. (Lucky!)
Mayo, AZ accepts in-state Medicaid transplant patients. No out of state Medicaid patients. A Medicaid person in ID, MT, places that do not even have a transplant hospital in the entire state, could not dual list at Mayo, AZ. Mayo AZ does take Medicare...kind of, sort of. If they contract with your plan :/
Hope your Saturday morning is going well! Big Hugs
