Does anyone have problems with bruising alot, and what if any steps you can take to stop this.

Dorad, bruising is part of the journey that is Liver Disease. Somehow small "leaks" in the capillaries happen to folks with low platelets...which I suspect you have also.. Mike is post Transplant, post Hep C, but he still bruises easily and has these little ones that sometimes actually bleed a bit. His skin is very easily damaged, even tears some.

You have several post started and I went back to some old ones to be sure I remembered your special situation. It might be good to have one long thread that is called something like: Dorad's is dealing with[ Hep C issues...

Thank you for your reply Mama Lama, that explains the bruising, mine are starting to turn into big ones that actually hurt.

I am feeling well and energetic in the mornings, but by afternoon I start feeling sleepy and need to take naps during the day. For me, the most challenging part of this illness is the fatigue and the amount of sleep I require at times.

I keep active by walking and doing yoga 3-4 times a week and that seems to make me feel better.

Not quite sure how to start a thread.

Grinding fatigue is the #1 complaint in liver diseases of all kinds. YOu are resting when you need to rest and doing exercise so you are doing what I would recommend. The journey is tough.. ARe you also following a heart health diet, staying away from red meats which are hard to digest with a bum liver, avoiding all alcohol, and keeping your sodium low? And of course, drinking lots of water?

I will have to research what the "heart health diet" and try to follow that more closely. Lately, with the summer and visitors I have been eating much more red meat than I normally do, chicken, fish and lentils are the go to meats for me. I know I do not drink enough in a day, but what is the required amount?

Hi Dorad,,

Sorry to hear of the bruising.. A good rule of thumb on water intake depending on the severity of liver damage and medications.. I have Chronic HepB which has re activated... I normally drink half my body weight in ounces of water... So roughly 90-95 oz. of water for me... I believe this might differ depending on medications and fluid retention.

Thank you DMach for your post, I drank more today, but will have to do it on a daily basis to feel the benefits. I will really try hard to get more water in my system...
