Can you work during Hep C Treatment?

D...it depends. Are you well enough to work now?

Some can and some cannot. Those on Interferon and Ribaviron with Sovaldi may have some problems. Flu like syep Tom's at first.

The good news is that with Sovaldi, most are clearing the virus in a month or so and start to feel better virus free.

Some have headaches and take a little tylenol. We encourage treaters to drink lots of water -- half their body weight in ounces daily. Several say it is helpful to take the pills with a snack that includes some fat.

Feel free to let us know how it is going. Read some of the treatment jiurnals... th e really li g threads...lots of anecdotal information.

Thank you mama lama! U are very supportive! Sad about alcohol in a close future !!!!! I like good vine and chokolat and as I understood - it is out of my menu forever... I realize that this is nothing compearasing to life without hep. C.
Regarding the work: I am a nurse in canada and full time worker. I have been on 3 years of disability and now I must go to work, anther way I will lose my lisence...scared to death, becouse my job is not easy... And push back the treatment I cannot too, cose psoriasis eating me, and I cannot eat something without pain in my mouth. Well, I probably should start and see. I saw an article today about psoriasis and Hep C:

It is 2 years old so there may be newer treatments. I am certain a good dermo would work with your Hep doc to sort out the treatment best for you. Ask them.

I was also thinking about this nursing thing, and needing to keep your license in place. Are there health care related jobs where your license would be a requirement but you would not need to be on your feet for 12 hours shifts....say at an insurance company or pharmaceutical company where they track calls from patients on variouis meds, or a pharmacy call center, where they'd like your background. I can't imagine doing hospital type work or nursing home things. Could you do home health care? Work in a doctor's office where it is quieter?

I was even wondering if your Hep C status would keep you away from patients? I haven't heard about that but our dental hygienist who said if she had a Hep C diagnosis she would lose her job. They would gown up and wear masks and eye protection while treating Mike before his Hep C treatment.

Hi all! Thank u for quick response! Unfortunately, Mama Lama, there is not work like this avalible... My shifts 8 hours, and not night shifts, thanks, god! I am on disability for my heart issues, not for hepatitis, and only thing that bothers me now - it is psoriasis, and hi enzymes. I am so lucky, that there is Sovaldi and galexis, it wasn't avalible before, and I couldn't kill the dragon... Interferon was out of question . And now, when I finally have it - I am again having problems, I cannot loose license, it is my bread... Hope my side effects are not going to be too bad. Hope somebody will tell me about their experience with the same problem. Thank u all. Doluska

Doluska, I hope you are doing private duty shifts and not hospital shifts....that would be really tough with a heart issue, hep, and treatment. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you dear! I am Canadian too, and very lucky about it. I was infected at young age while being treated for limfoma in another country, where I was born.
My case is complicated, becouse during the treatment I was saved, but my heart was damaged and dragon was given to me with hemo injection. Sometimes I am asking:"why?"No answer. It wasn't my choice. Here I am, after 2 open heart surgerys and scared to get this therapy, cose it looks like another chemo in my life... Choose? I am choosing life and fight. Happy that I can share my confusion an fright with somebody. Becouse u guys were trough a Lot!!!! I will be very thankful for any comment and advice. D.

Thank you, David! I wish I could get some data about people with the some cardiac problems. Or may be close to it, who was on the treatment!!!! I need good news, and want to believe in good results.

That sounds awful! sorry Doluska to hear about this. My husband (stage3 hepC) is starting treatment next week and I am just as scared, if the doctor were to screw up like that, I might just lose it!
