Hello Everyone!

 

Got a phone call from Teresa and they put Mark in the hospital a while ago. Please keep them in your prayers.

 

Mark had gotten sicker through out the week.

Tony is about the same. It's been tough on him to acept having the cirrhosis. He misses working and knows he can't work!

 

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!! Thank you all for your support!

Hi,

I'm saddened to return from a beautiful getaway with Gene to hear that Mark is back in the hospital. I know this has been a very difficult week for him. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. My mantra is, "Liver for Mark."

Thank-you for your prayers and thoughts! They discharged Mark last night. He had a dazed and confused look when I got there and I mentioned it to the nurse, she just kinda threw her arms up in the air and shrugged her shoulders, and said "oh well". Then I asked her what his creatine was and she told me she could not tell me, only the doctor could. I told her I really did need to know it, because his diuretics have been on hold and if it was down he needed to get them, she stood her ground. This woman had one heck of an attitude, I told her Mark's encephalopathy had increased, she threw her arms up in the air again..........ggggggggrrrrrrr. So now Mark is at home and doing worse than what he was before he went to the hospital. His Hepatologist was not on call this weekend so he did not get the quality care he should have gotten.....

Please keep him your prayers. I feel like he is going down quick, and there is nothing I can do to stop it!

Teresa, I am so sorry Mark is doing poorly.  Have you been able to contact the hepatologist?  I don't know why some nurses don't understand that the caretakers know a whole lot more than they do--or maybe they do know it and resent it.  eyes

Hi Teresa,

Grrrrrr!!!!!! Sometimes we can better nurse our loved ones than the so called professionals in the hospital. The last time Pa was in the hospital, I knew I had to get him home to correct the dehydration and speech loss they created by forcing him to take massive doses of Lactulose the last night.

Prayers and healing energy to the both of you. Hold your ground and fight for what Mark needs. And insist on speaking with the hepatologist.

Well I spent most of the day and night, nursing Mark with the encephalopathy. I had to give lactulose every couple hours to get him to almost a normal state. His hepatologist called me, he has assured me that Mark should have a new liver in the next couple of months, his placement is up there. We are going to do more lab today and start Mark back on the rifaxan today.

Thank you all for the support you have given me! Mark is doing much better, right now. We go see the Dr. tomorrow. Hopefully Mark will stay out of the hospital for awhile. confused   I certainly hope so anyway. I don't think I can stand another experience like we had this past weekend!!! I did vent this to the right people and they are handling the attitude and the fact that they discharged someone with a mental status change. Hope all of you are doing well! All of you are in my prayers.

Teresa, thanks for the update on Mark! Happy to hear that he is back home. It's very encouraging that the hepatologist thinks Mark will get a new liver in the next couple of months! Just hang in there!!!

im glad mark is doing better. I know how hard it is to wait on the transplant. My younger brother had a kidney/pancreas transplant 4 yrs ago,,,we waited 2 yrs for the right donor,,,,but when the call came it was so worth the wait,,he is doing GREAT,,,,,he is blind too,,and is now livin in Tx,,,,,,with his gf of two yrs,,,and is happier then hes ever been in his life....if hes up there on the list,it wont be long hon,just help mark hold on tight,,,,,,,:hugs:

Thanks for asking Jennifer, Mark's condition continues to worsen. He keeps having the renal and encephalopathy problems. He has been in the hospital twice this month, the last time he was very close to the coma state. I am getting very anxious for us to get a call. He is having so much stomach and back pain, with only tylenol to take. I don't know how much more his body can take. Just keep the positive thoughts and prayers coming this way.

You grabbed an old post. 2006. FYI.....Mark did get his liver transplant and is doing great last I heard.

Yes you found an old post. Mark got his new liver last February...He stayed in the hospital I believe 3-4 days. He is doing great. The whole family is. It is truely a miracle...

I am one of Teresa's buddies, I hear from her a bunch! If anyone would like to email her she still has the same email address...They are sooooo happy!!

Hello Donajean, How are you? Hope you're doing well.
When I first saw this thread I didn't realize that it was an old post. Boy my heart sank. But I finally realized it was an older thread. I was never so glad that someone grabbed and old post. Glad to hear that Mark is still doing great. They deserved a new life together.

I'll email Teresa . I sure do miss her.

Hi Ya Sweet Connie Girl! Hi Ya Pink Grandma!

I am doing ok...Busy most of the time!! Tony will be put on the liver transplant in Sept in Memphis..They will also start the interferon treatments. He is stable at this time.

He has been on disability now for 2 years. His medicare starts in August...
