Need Advise, am I at risk?

I screwed up and need your technical expertise. I am a 32 heterosexual male with negative HIV and HCV status. I met a woman and she gave me a hand job 28 Dec 06. I do not know her status or even her last name for that matter (stupid, stupid stupid). The reason I am concernecd is she spit on her hand several times to lube it up-. Later that day, the chaffing was pretty bad--it was really red. I am a bit concerned because she had spit on her hand then rubbed me.the next day I started having "symptoms" to include fatigue, pain in the back of my neck, trembling, tingling of my feet and hands and diarrea. At 9 days, I started "noticing" the area above my liver--it doesnt hurt but I can just feel it which I usually don't. Starting on Day 11, "phantom pains began creeping up in my upper right quadrant (Liver). Should I be concerned for HIV, HCV, or any other diseases?

I began searching the net on HCV and HIV virus presence in saliva and it seems there is conflicting "evidence".  It seems both HIV and HCV virus can but may not be present in saliva and when typically found, the concetration is less in saliva than it is in blood.  I am moreso concerned about HCV because it seems there is less research into HCV transmission than HIV.  Normally before I engage in sexual activity of any kind, I am in a realationship and we get tested--but the little head overcame the big head in this case. I could really use your advise--the Anxiety is crippling me. Should I get tested? Thanks.

Ok,first of all, we are not drs on here, so I think the first thing you should do is consult your dr. He/she will know if you need to be tested or not. I wouldnt think your extremely at risk to contract anything from a bit of saliva, though I couldnt tell you 100 percent positive. I think anytime there is a risk involved you should be tested. it will ease your mind more then anyone on this forum could. Please be careful about which head you listen to.,,,the next time you could engage in more risky activity and then,,,it could mean alot of trouble for you. STDs are not a joke, they are the real deal. In the future I would suggest using a condom,even with only " manual" sex, just to be on the safe side. I hope your tests come back negative and I wish you luck with controlling your urges from now on:) take care of yourself.

A bit too much info for me, too, even toned down.

HCV is blood borne. The chance of it being transferred to you in the matter you described is very small. Married couples are unlikely to transmit it to each other. I have chronic HCV, genotype 1a. Clearly, I have had it for years because I am now cirrhotic. My wife of 20 years (21 years if you count the year we lived together before we got married) does not have it.

The only possibility of HCV transmission might be if this woman had an open cut on her hand & you had an open cut on your you-know-what (Ecccchh). Your symptoms are either imaginary or from something else.

Doug, good answer. However, a more likely transmission would be intercourse with a woman who has her period (yuck!) The main thing to remember is that HCV is blood-borne.

You are dead on about the symptoms. With HCV, they don't develop for decades, although when it is first contracted one might have flu-like symptoms (I didn't.)
