What he is refering to is PEGASYS combination therapy I beleive. It is a comb of interferon and Ribavirin, interferon is a shot given once a week and ribavirin is a pill form 1x's daily+. As for its success rate it is not that easy to say it has a 75% success rate. It depends on first off the genotype of the virus (type 1 has less success as type 2 or 3 - you can find out your type with a test) As for the success rate it also depends on your age (younger people tend to do better as well do females) and some people may be 'clear' (no virus detectable) for a number of years and then once more test possitive, so as for it being a cure well that is up for debate.

Its also important to know that the side effects of this treatment can be very similar to chemo therapy and some will stop the treatment because the side effects are just too hard to manage. The treatment is generally 48 weeks for type 1 (also the most common type of HepC found in North America) and 24 weeks for types 2 & 3

Patients with type 2 & 3 there is generally about an 80% success rate in clearing the virus to undetectable levels. Type 1 has less a success rate of about 40-45%
