I have to go into the hospital this morning for my tenth varicies banding. I am still awake as I have butterflys in my stomach. I usually have to be admitted after the procedure for several days, as I get pretty nauseated and have pain in the middle of my sternum. This came about
as a result of a pancreatic pseudocyst that put pressure on the large portal vein causing portal vein hypertension. I had a bad bleed several years ago. I ended up at the Univ. of Wisconsin hospital where they attempted a TIPS that failed and finally gave me a modified Seugura procedure. That reduced the varicies, but did not cure them. I have to maintain the endoscopy porcedures every six months, I guess forever. I'm also diabetic and have developed IBS. I just found this site and have read of others who are also afflicted.
