Thanks Pink Grandma,

It is the last one that I have so much trouble with. My disorganization has gotten out of control. I used to be good at it, but now it just makes me sick to look at all the paperwork. I know that I would feel so much better if I would just get it done. I'm going to try really hard to get it done this week. Can't have all that stuff lying around when my grand daughter gets here this week end.

Carol  I can't believe you just wrote that.  I am the same way.  Stuff is strung from one end of the house to the other.  Its totally unlike me.  And the pressure it causes because I don't like it.  That makes me more crazy and more disorganized.  Its feels so good to get it done but do you find you aren't as efficient as usual.  Its like being scatter brained.  Maybe I do need some of Jerry's lactalose! 

How are things with you today?

I don't want to scare you but ...........over a year later and I am still scatter-brained. Can't keep a continuous thought for more than 1/2 of a second when I am at home. It's now starting to happen at work.
I had never been this way before my caregiving days. Maybe it is old age creeping up on me. I sure as heck hope not though.

Pink Grandma   I have said many times that if I had a job I would be fired.  I think some of it is age but the rest is stress.  My girls are always reminding me that I am repeating myself.  Heck, Jerry keeps telling me.  Jerry has been seeing a counselor--you know the rules you want a liver transplant you have to do counseling.  Well anyway I have taken over the counselor.  Jerry just sits there and I do all the talking.  We actually laugh about it (Me, the counselor and Jerry).  The counselor forgetfulness is sometimes a sign of depression.  I told him its a good thing I'm not depressed or I wouldn't remember anything.  I'm off to bed have a good night.

I think it must be "Caregiver Syndrome." I'm not sleeping too good either. I smacked Terry across the face the other night. He says I talk, snore, and scream a lot. I must be getting worse, because he was mad yesterday morning. He said I must be going crazy. I didn't know what to say to him, so it's been kind of quiet around here. I slept on the floor in the family room last night, just to give him (or Me) a break. I think I slept OK, but what do I know? I'm ASLEEP!!!!!
No I'm not as efficient anymore. I could put the all the sticky notes on my body and I would probably still forget to read them.
I'm going to do some paperwork---Where's my shredder!!!

Wow I am glad to see I am not the only caregiver losing it!! Last year my doctor did the most wonderful thing ever ( well second most wonderful thing 1st was finding my cancer early) he wrote me a script for PAXIL after i flew in to office and explained i was having a good day (while sobbing) and I still felt like the whole world was a circus with me walking the tightrope, oh and by the way I hand a gun in one had and tissues in the other and wasnt sure which one to use. He wrote the script so fast is was almost comical and all the while patting my shoulder looking scared. That was the first time I realized it was getting to me this last 8 years. During this time of caregiving I myself had major surgery because of kidney cancer and a rotater cuff repaired, lost a best friend and my mom. I guess it was tooooo much. I told my s/o today that i was going to rip his legs off and beat him with them. Two days ago he colapsed and was rushed to hospital in a coma. His ammonia levels were just above 300..... well doesnt he wake up and wonders why when i brought his stuff up to him i didnt think of his laptop... go figure dont you always bring people in COMAS a laptop to play games on. Well ..... he wont ask again.... of course he doesnt even know what happened at that point so I guess I cant blame him but I will get some mileage on that stupid question.... lets see some jewels, yeah right my leave from work is eating savings real fast. I guess I love you and I am sorry will do. Sue

Geez, I don't feel so alone now!!! I am not very good at care giving and lose my patience with my husband and then I feel guilty. Sometime's I feel so trapped but am afraid to leave him for very long, I Hate this disease and what it is doing to us,

Judith, dont be afraid to leave him alone for a few. I f you have friends that can go out with last minute notice if your having a good day call them and meet up. A few hours of feeling normal can be so rewarding and relaxing. I have a few friends that i do this with an evening of laughter is great. I even find myself laughing and the stupid stuff that goes on at home which is even better. You have to find a way to laugh its good for the soul. My s/o and i also laugh at some of the things he does when he is confused, like 3am trips to my garden naked looking for the bed. I did lose a few of my plants but it was a good laugh for us both. yeah Never feel alone I dont know where you live but would be glad to e-mail my number even just to vent.

Hi All,

I just came upon this post tonight. I can't believe how much it describes what has been going on with me. My house is a total disaster area. I just feel so overwhelmed that I can't even begin doing anything. Also, over the last year I have made more stupid mistakes at work than I have made in the total 15 years since I have been there. I have gotten very forgetful and have trouble concentrating. Whenever talking to someone I just about always have to say "I don't know if I already told you this" because I repeat myself so often. I thought I was losing my mind. I am so glad to know that there is a reason for the insanity.

I'm not a caregiver, but can most definitely say that stress and lack of sleep will cause mistakes at work--mistakes that you would never make if you weren't experiencing those things.  yeah   I went through that myself, the last time I worked.  I was thoroughly berated for it, too.  I'm so glad my disability was finally approved, as I know I would have ended up being fired if I hadn't quit first.

I am fortunate to have very understanding bosses. I work in an accounting office that is a small family business. They are really good people and have been very understanding. I just hope I don't let them down too much. They have always had alot of confidence in me. I'm afraid that will be lost if I don't get myself together very soon.

I hope you are doing well tonight Connie. I have been feeling restless lately, so I've been reading posts that I have missed.

glad this was posted. i know i'm not alone...i was just telling some of my co-workers that i needed someone to come and open up all of my bills b/c i can't seem to get anything done, then i logged on and saw this....i have never been so unorganized in my life.  my brain runs on full speed all the time, it's horrible.  i am on celexa but it really doesn't seem to be helping b/c i still can't concentrate on anything anymore. hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Michele,

Yeah, you're not alone in this. Welcome to the forum. It's made a great difference in my understanding of the disease and it helps to have people to communicate with who understand -- both the triumphs and the pain.

I'm a Hep induced End Stage Liver Disease patient without a caregiver so I know about the organization and bill-paying stuff. I've never had so many late charges and confused situations. I hope that you can find a helper.

I have to get to bed but wanted to say hi.

hey John,

thanks for the welcome. you know, when i found out that there are people going thru this same disease w/someone and feeling the same thing i am, it has really made a difference.  i have wonderful friends that have supported me thru all of this but if you have never been there then they really don't understand. you know.  i can't imagine my husband not having a care provider, i am sorry that you have to go this journey alone.  i hope that you have alot of support elsewhere. how are you doing? it really looks like there is alot of support on here as well, i know i am going to be needing it.  if you ever need to talk i'm here. hope you have a good day.

Hi Michele, This place has really been good for me too. A lot of times the people around you just want to ignore what is going on or pretend that everything is fine. It is good to have people that understand.

PG....thank you for bumping this up!! Guess I needed to read it. I have been feeling sooooo disorganized lately and it's making me crazy. My house looks like atornado went through it, and I am starting to make mistakes at work, which is NOT a good thing! All of which are making me completely insane. I even told my husband today that if he felt a seizure coming on, to please move into the living room BEFORE the funny feeling came, that way if I had to call the paramedics, they would not have to go into my messy bedroom! Silly, huh?? Oh, well....guess that's a day in the life! Hope you are all well

I was worried that I too was losing my mind. I put things away. Need it 5 or 10 minutes later and don't have a clue. I get mad at myself, and lately my family asks for something or asks the infamous question "Where is ?" I try to anticipate the question by finding it before they ask. I go thru my van and find things in pockets and crevices......I have let the budget fend for itself or relied on notices. I have lists everywhere. I get up in the morning and it seems that I take longer due to the fact that I am not putting things where they belong. I have piles in my closet, 4 or 5 months ago none of this was happening.

My brother is sick, now. This is all I know for now. It started out with a hospitalization, and now it's advanced to encephalopathy. I am lost in my mind and wish someone could find me. A minute in a day is too long. God help my children and husband.
