GREAT NEWS!!!!

Hello everybody,

Sorry it has been awhile since i have been online. Things have been quite busy around here. I hope you all remember who I am. If not, I will remind you who I am.

I wanted to share some exciting news. I went to the internest a couple of weeks ago. He took many blood tests and one of them is for the hep c. Well, I just got my results back today. I am undetectable so the treatment and all the hell that went with it, paid off. :) This makes me very happy. Takes alot of stress off of me. My baby will be tested in another 8 months. However, since I have been undetectable for over a 1 1/2 I do not think I need to worry about it. What do you think?

If you are Hep C undetectable after 1.5 years - you are cured!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Hepatologist will give out a "cured" certificate if the virus is undetectable after 1 year post treatment, I've seen them. The only way Hep C can come back in this case is to get re-infected. If the virus is going to some back after treatment it does so almost immediately, certainly within 6 months.

Yep, this is exactly why the 1st post treatment follow up test is usually scheduled at 6 months. I insisted I got mine earlier because I felt the Hep C symptoms returning.
Sure enough - it was right back at 1 month post treatment & PCR just as high. That 1 year marker is the magic moment! Unfortunately lots of folks think they are clear because they test clear at the end of treatment & don't get any follow up until 6 months later. Lots of ins. won't pay for a follow up test until the 6 months mark. So they think they're clear & get extremely depressing results. You're out of the HEP C world at the 1 year mark if testing undectable then!
