Rough Week

Hi all.

Its been an rough week.  One entire day in the ER (local).  The Dr. in the ER talked several time to Vanderbilt and so did I.   ABsolutely nothing determined.  They sent us home with pain meds and an antibiotic.  By the time we got home  Vanderbilt called because they had decided that Jerry didn't need the antibiotics.  Two days later the low grade fever started.  Since then it comes and goes.  Never gets above 100.  Also no apatite!   Back to the local lab on Fri for blood cultures.  When we left the lab they told us it would take three days.  That was on a Fri.  I was really upset because we didn'tknow what to do next.  Since then his stomach is swelled and hard.  He can't eat at all also bouts of nausea.  I was so frustrated today I went outside and took out all my frustrations on my beautiful azalea bush.  It doesn't look very good right now.  I sure hope I didn't do any permanent damage.   I tried everything to convice Jerry to let me take him to the ER.  I do understand he has been there a lot but I just did not want to risk hurting his new liver.  HE just so tired of hospitals.  Tonight vomiting.  I'm sure this will continue in to this week.  I'll try and find the time to keep you all posted.

You and jerry will be in my pray right now. That is my biggest fear . That I will continue to be ill after a transplant. He must be just sick of the whole thing. I am already sick of Dr. and having to go to the Desert of Arizona every 6 months. Sometimes I just feel so hopeless. At this time I am very stable my biggest issue is my arthritis pain, and not being able to take many meds. for pain. Tell jerry to pick up smell the azelea and keep that liver going, june

Enough is enough!  You must be absolutely beside yourself by now.  And poor Jerry.  Yes, I am sure he is SICK SICK SICK of hospitals and ERs.

I am glad he is back at Vandy today.  With these events... that is where he belongs.

Get yourself some rest and then find out what the heck is going on with him.  You know how to do it... you've sure got the experience!  "Hammer" on those doctors. 

Hubby & I found thru our ordeal that you've got to be persistant.  (You  know this). Make them tell you stuff ~ make them explain ~ and also , make them aware.

Hello All

We are still at Vanderbilt.  Back problem solved.  First of all they diagnosed pneumonia.  Whte could elevated.  The fluid was on the outside of his lung between the lung and that sack that surrounds the lung.  They went in and drained it.  Got close to a liter.  Now that fluid has been there for a long time.  Way back when his acites was so bad it would fill up surrounding the lung.  They would go in through his back and drain.  Once they got his acites under control with medication it took care of his acites.  It seems the fluid turned bad (lack of another explaination).    Well, after they drained the fluid his lung collapsed!!!  Next step chest tube!!!  That was horrible.  I felt so bad for him.  BUT that horrible back pain is almost gone.  Now, just the pain from the tube.  Still not much of an appetite but he is up walking today.  Everyone here has come by to visit.  Seems like they are part of our family.  Just another bump in the road.  A BIG bump.  Good news, the new liver is PERFECT.  I wish I could say that about my Azalea!!!!

Anyone heard from John???  Everytime I make the drive here myself I put on my Linda Rohnstad CD and I think of John!
