I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 2009 but could not undergo treatment b/c my Ulcerative Colitis is flaring.  Per my liver biopsy I am at Stage 0, Grade 1 (still have a lot to learn).

Has anyone with UC undergone interferon therapy and, if so, did it make your UC worse?

lv2Bhealthy, welcome to the forum.  I am sorry that you have 2 chronic conditions to cope with.  I can't recall anyone here who also has UC, but perhaps someone will show up.  If you can get your UC under control, would you then be able to have treatment?  Treatment for hep C is basically chemo and takes a toll on your entire body.  Have you seen a hepatologist yet?  If not, I would recommend a consult to get his opinion.

Hello lv2Bhealthy and welcome to HealingWell. I can not recall any one with UC and Hep C either. But hopefully if we do have someone, they will come on and post. Glad that they diagnosed you so early. Some get diagnosed at end-stage when they are really sick. At least you have time to get educated on it and slow down the progression. We have an educational thread in our resource post at the top of our forum. It has a lot of good information about liver disease.

I have hepatitis c and while ON treatment I flared up into Ulcerative Colitis. Im actually gonna undergo treatment for hep c again in August. Im praying to God i dont flare up like the 1st time. Im 19 years old. I was diagnosed with hep c at 18. 3 weeks into the treatment i flared up. I didnt have Ulcerative colitis before that. Its like the anti virals caused the Ulcerative colitis. Im so scared of this second round thou. I only got to 11 weeks of hep c treatment. Hopefully this time i make it to the full 48 weeks :(

Amy, welcome to the forum.  Since you picked up on a very old thread, I suggest you start your own (hit New Topic, give it a title, and post) instead of Reply.  You will get more replies that way.  I hope that the 2nd go at treatment will not bring a recurrence of OC.  Are you going to have the new 3-drug treatment that is only done for 24 weeks?
