It's been a long time

Hello Pinkgrandma and Hep 93, and everyone else that are old friends and new members. All is well here. Dennis and I are doing well for a change! LOL. As you remember my mom died in 07 of liver cancer. My brother died suddenly from a heart attack in 08.  Once the family was able to recover from those two horrific deaths we thought our life would eventually get back to some normallacy.

Well, it didn't quite work out that way. Dennis developed Diabetes and was really sick for several months. Then one night last year he came into the room and couldn.t speak. Thank goodness I recoginized immediately that he had had a stroke. I called 911 and they took him to the ER. He was hospitalized for several days. Everything worked out OK. No residual problems. His speech and full movement returned. I know in my heart it's because we got he paramedics here so quickly.

Otherwise, (knock on wood) everything is going well. I have missed my friend here at Healingwell very much and think of you often.

Wow!  Great call on his symptoms and getting EMTs out there super fast.  It's tPA that's given for stroke and heart attack.  It has to be given within 3 hrs of symptoms.  Most people aren't that lucky!  So yay!  Maybe that's the turning point for the bad health luck!

I was reading an article not to long ago about women and heart attacks.... little did I know I would need that info so quickly. This last Sunday my sister and I decided to have a PJ day, movies and chinese food. I was giving her a hard time cause she got an empty fortune cookie....... bad omen,,,,just kidding with her! Well 30 minutes later she turns grey and said she had a funny pain so I jumped into caregiver mode asked where , how bad, nausea etc....take an aspirin.got her to hospital asap...less than 4minutes away, they sent for med flight had her in boston in 20 minutes now here it is wed and I just got her home already. Its all about timing. So no more fortune cookies for her and she ruined my jammie day cause she wouldnt let me take her in my jammies, dont get the big deal about jammies. I told her they were used to my jammies at local hospital...lol!!! She is just no fun you would never know we were related.....

Well Merry Christmas to everyone. My hubbie is doing well and we are going to be moving to Georgia next year. I can hardly wait to go. Most of my family is there so it will be so nice to live near them. I know many will find it hard to believe but I have learned not to like Florida. With 9 months of heat and 6 months of hurricane season I'm really just over it. My dad just turned 88, has a girlfriend and went white water rafting this past summer! It's just wonderful to watch him live large. LOL...It has really transformed him to have fun and laugh again. I just told him he is 88 going on 25. I hope I inheritated his genes. Love you all and hope your holidays are wonderful.

Shelly.....hoooray for your dad!! My grandmother (who lives in Georgia) is 91 years YOUNG and when she was in her 80's went kayaking!!! I love that people like that are not defined by their birthdate! LOL!

I am so glad your hubby is doing better! Good luck on your move!

Shelly, that's so great about your dad--amazing, really!  I hope you enjoy living in GA.  I'm in Jacksonville, FL, which is more like S. GA than FL.  We get temps in the 20s here and I could do without that.
