Developed bad back pain last Saturday and had hubby take me to the Emergency Room.  Diagnosed with a roaming kidney stone in addition to my UTI.  They put a stent in and gave me some pain medication.  I was released home on Tuesday.

Am waiting to hear from the urologist's schedulers when they want to zap the kidney stone.  TIPS on further hold till this kidney stuff is all resolved.

I just want to get through Xmas and New Year's without another hospitalization.

Susie, so sorry you had to be hospitalized again.  Hopefully, you will be home at Christmas.

I'm curious.  What kind of stent did they put in?

Susie,

So worrisome to have new problems, especially at Christmas. Hope you get to be home through the holiday week. And then get your procedure first thing in the New Year.

We are kind of on the same schedule...will Hubby be well enough to stay home...or will he spend more time on the 6th floor of the old Cedars Hospital?

Home today at least. One day at a time.

May 2011 be a BETTER YEAR.

They put a stent in my right ureter because the stone is located there.  I got a call from the Hospital tonight, sayiing my urine culture came  back with an infection which is not  susceptible to cipro.  He wanted to put me back on Nitrofurantoin.  I told him that I was on 50mg of nitrofurantoin to try to keep me from developing an infection.  We ended the confusing conversation by agreeing I would come in for a urine draw on Monday.

I can't understand how I can have one infection one week and a totally different one the next,

At least, the pain has gotten more tolerable today, but I am still urinating bloody urine.

ML, U of M has taken over Cedars?  I was in Cedars years ago...'83 or '84.  I lived in Miami/Miami Beach from '76 to '86.

Susie, I'm so sorry you are having these problems.  I had one bladder infection after another for awhile and the urologist finally put me on Macrodantin prophylactically for 6 mos. and I never had another infection.  I hope they will find a sulfa drug that will work for you.
