liver failure, my life story and please read it took me alot of courage to write this

hello everybody i would like to tell you mt story

when i was two years old my dad gave my mum a Xanax tablet (poisonous tablet) to my mum and she took and allergic reaction and in about year 2005 my mum was feeling jaundice, her eyes were yellow so was her skin. her stomach had swollen and she had to go straight to hospital and i had to go with my brother to stay at my grans house and for 3 months. eventually my mum came back for about a week and she had to g o straight back to hospital. o stayed at my aunties for a few nights and then my dad showed up. i was quite happy to stay at his house because i was seven years old and i had no idea what was going on and nobody would tell me. so i stayed at his house and he cut my hair short (its was down to my waist and after it was above my ears) and he attempted to put me in care but my granny took me and my brother in and we were back home by June. about 5 years later i was at home in my room it was just a normal day and somebody knocked at the door it was my dad i started crying and ran off to my grans house and my grandad called my dad and told him to get out of my mums house and hung up the phone went back home and he was still there and he said to me that he was going to take me and my brother on a day out. and just for one minute i was going to forgive him but i remembered all of the nasty things that he had put me and my mum even my brother through. my mum instantly answers for me and said i could. next day he never showed up and called my mum and said that me and my brother where a mistake. two years later we moved house and my mum has gotten worse and has post traumatic stress and she has liver failure again and she might not get another transplant and she might not make it. i fell scared and like ive got nobody to talk to

Lilli-Kai,

Don't ever feel like you're alone and have no one to talk to, because here, we have lots of people that will talk to you. I'm so sorry about your mom and I'm sure you are worried...So is your Granny or your Aunt still live around you? ...Can you talk to them? There are many things that can happen when you have liver failure, some good, and some bad, but many people live a long time with liver problems. Maybe you could tell your Mom you are worried about her and she could help you understand what is going on...There are many smart people here, so I'm sure others will chime in and help you if you have questions.

Feel free to ask your questions, trust me, I have and they always answer me.....

Hi, Lilli-Kai (what a pretty name!)  Welcome to the forum!  I'm sorry you had such a difficult childhood and were hurt by your father.  The most important part of your post is the last 4 lines, though.  Has your mother already had one liver transplant?  You say you don't know if she will be able to get "another transplant."

Do you know what the cause of her liver disease is?  Does she have any form of hepatitis?  Does she drink?  The more you are able to tell us, the more information we can give you.

How old are you now?  Are you single?  You need a good support system, but if you have none of your own, we will be your support system.

I suggest that you read the information in the folder at the top of the page entitled Hepatitis Resources.  It is about end-stage liver disease (not just viral hepatitis) and is filled with information that will be helpful to you in learning about liver disease.  If you have any specific questions after reading that, just let us know and we will do our best to answer.

I'll try again, Welcome to HealingWell!  I'm sorry to hear you have been through such a tough time.

Please send more information as to what type of liver disease your mom has.  It'll be easier for people to help and give advice if we know what she is dealing with.  There are resource folders at the top of the chat list that you can read through to learn more about liver disease.

What part of the world do you live in?  There may be folks on here who live in the same area who know of local support groups you can attend above what we can offer online.  We will always try to help you with your questions and concerns.

From the 2nd part of your story when your dad didn't come to see you, I'm guessing you were 12 then...how old are you now?

Xanax is a safe drug for the liver so I doubt that would have caused a drug-induced hepatitis but the allergic reaction would have been scary.  Your mom has been dealing with a lot, do you know if she drinks any alcohol?  She should not drink any to help protect her liver.  Do you know if your mom is seeing a hepatologist (a liver specialist)?

We also have a depression chat/forum if you would like to talk to some folks on there to deal with some of your other family issues and not just your mom's illness.

As SadWife said, you should speak to your mom.  She can help you understand what type of disease she is dealing with and how you can help and who you can speak to.  Maybe you can go with her to the doctor's appointments?  Are you still close with you aunt and gran?

Hi Lilli-kai, welcome to the forum. It was really good that you took at the first step and wrote a thread, sometimes it is the hardest thing to do, to reach out and ask for help but as I know it was the same for me but I promise it is worth it. Everyone here are so supportive and caring and also very knowledgable so ask your questions and someone here will be able to help you I am sure. Remeber that I know your mum is very sick but you and your brother or just as important so you need to take care of yourself and get as much help and support as you can for you both. Do you work or goto school, is there someone in your life that might be able to share what you are going through? I find this forum very rewarding and my sanity, without talking to someone then we bottle it up and thats not good either, so please talk, vent, rant whatever you need to do to cope and I promise everyone here will listen and help the best that they can.

Lilli-Kai... sounds like you have issues along with your mom's liver disease... there are other forums here additionally that deal with anxiety... depression... etc... along with this forum.... to help with those other issues... also finding someone to talk to a counselor... pastor ... etc could help....you will find concrete help here... and yes people are here to help.. as you help yourself... take care and come back...
