Mr Kellys thread didnt amuse me in the least. Actually I felt quite offended by it. I sincerely hope this thread will not only be locked, but completely erased. David And Rick have helped me a lot, and many others. And to me this is a slap in the face to both.. As Connie And PG point out frequently this forum is called Hepatitis. Not" lets make fun of people by asking moronic questions".

sad   Many people on here are going through probably one of the most difficult times of their lives, and to bring this type of stuff here is a shame, when they are here for support.. Hepatitis is no excuse for being rude and vulgar..

I recall reading a recent apology .... it was time to move on... sad that we cant focus on issues... or just being a forum... if u dont like what is said push the ignore button folks... just push the ignore button..

I don't think David and Rick will be offended by Mr Kelly's thread, I think they are quite enjoying verbally sparring with each other...but I do agree NC that I find it a bit much.This thread you are talking about is titled correctly as a light hearted thing (joke)  but if a thread is titled Hepatitis it should contain posts about that not what has been contained in the recent(pages long) thread titled Hepatitis. If people come on here looking for info they will put 'hepatitis' in the search and come up with what is a a social thread and should be named as such...

Is it possible Mod's to make a social thread for Michael, David and Rick so that their joke's etc are in a place that no one can get confused/upset about? a bit like your carer's thread maybe?

 If a thread is titled Hepatitis I would expect as a person that happens across this forum on a web search to read something about hepatitis not what has been written. I will ignore what I don't want to read but I am thinking of people who are looking for answers as I was when I was diagnosed.

This forum should be about educating people as well as support. Hepatitis kills....I am just asking that everyone respect each other and that we think about the people who are just here to read get info but will not register to post. Not everyone will want to, I didn't for a quite a while.

I must have missed the poll on liking the humor....not everyone is enjoying it and tonight is evidence of that..........not everyone has the same opinion and everyone should be listened to........push the ignore putton..is the answer sometimes but this won't help the people who are going to find this site now and in the future....

I think we take ourselves a little too seriously sometimes - humor is good - and although it may not be to everyone's taste - I think new users will know the difference between the serious disease related posts and those who need to let off a little steam via humor.

@arneeb 'called death, dying, and disease and darkness' this was your experience with liver disease, not everyone with hepatitis goes down this path so not every thread should reflect this.

Humor is good in the right setting.....I have no problem with a thread with humour in it just name them it as such. I have hepatitis and I am not feeling the funny side of it...sorry carers etc.....

ok my attempt at humor was misinterpreted... I was simply trying to say... you can not have one positive thread... one negative thread... issues flow from one to the other... as the caretakers thread.. did not make it.. people come on and post... taking a low shot at my experience was uncalled for... you will find nothing dark... or hopeless about my journey with Mike... that was not my journey.... and over and over I have posted cant we just move on... and let people be... just move on..

Clarification: the Forum is titled "Hepatitis".  Each thread has it's own title.  If someone is looking up information about hepatitis, I doubt they will be looking in a thread titled "Just for Laughs".  Yes, other threads have gotten carried away with banter.  In this particular instance, it was appropriately titled and if you weren't looking for humor, idea   don't read the thread or as others have said, "ignore it". 

All the liver diseases are serious and not one person here doesn't recognize that.  That said, it's nice to have a place where one feels comfortable to post about anything....side effects of the disease (not always pleasant topics), caregiver issues, financial issues, etc and releasing a little humor as laughter is the best medicine.  

So not only was the thread appropriately titled, it was aimed at encouraging chatter between specific folks...so clearly Mick's attempt (in all jest as we - most of us - recognise) at riling up Rick and David, something the 3 of them (and seemingly, a few of us) have fun reading.

If you are only looking for information, best to read the threads that are about information.

So to all, please in the future, if something starts to veer off in the direction of joking around...start a new thread and add something to the title so others know it's just for fun...that's a fair compromise and should make everyone happy.

Let's get a couple of things straight. First, Mick, Rick and myself have almost died on a number of occasions, so we've learned to laugh, rather than cry at our problems. Second, I follow a transplant forum and one of the most popular groups is dedicated to humor and jokes. Not only that, it's adult humor. People there have been through very tough times and have come out on the other side, ready to enjoy the rest of their life. However long or short that may be.

I come here here for information and to share what I know. How boring this place would be if it was only factual and there weren't any human foibles exposed. That includes heart rending stories, good news about us and laughing at ourselves.

Mick was being Mick. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Please don't take his post personally. Normally (strange word when referring to Mick) he saves his shots at me and Rick, with an occasional swipe at Connie and Dany. If you were to go back and read his old posts, he has been here for information, when not kidding with us. Admittedly he's hard to understand as he speaks some strange language. Nevertheless, he isn't a hurtful sort of person.

You made a point that this should just be about hepatitis. To me that would mean there ought not be any mention of: my husband won't stop drinking, or he won't see a doctor, etc.. If you excised any posts of that sort, or humor, this place would have no heart and few, if any people would come here. If you can't see the humor here, so be it. I often have a problem relating to the pathos here, but over time, I've become accustomed to it and now have a better understanding of why people pour out their heart here. And I respect their right to feel the way they do. Please do the same for all of us.

I don't participate in the humor exchanges between David, Rick and Mick, but I do enjoy reading them. If I don't get the jokes, I just move on. If I am not in the mood for humor, I don't open their threads. I have found this forum to be extremely helpful to me during the toughest time of my life. I like the forum just as it is...warts and all.

i love coming on here and reading all sorts of different posts, and i think the humour in some of them is a great medicine for sufferers and carers alike, as we need knowledge and the experiences of others to get through this, we also need a little light relief, i do giggle reading the funny posts from the men and im english!!!!! (very anal we are)! he he! that smile or little laugh, lightens the mood and is sometimes all it takes to brighten ones spirits. i thank you all for that.xxnatasha.xx

Hepmom, I am trying your suggestion and have started a specific thread with the warning to "enter at your own risk."  I enjoy humor, too, if it's not too over the top...which I felt Mick's was this morning.  We also have a forum rule to make posts "family friendly" which I cited in locking Mick's thread.  The rules were created by the Administrator, not me.

I hope this works out.

No, that is not what I meant David.  I just asked that if you are going to title a thread 'Hepatitis' you should try to stick to the topic. I did not say that everything should be about serious matters humour is good.  This thread was titled correctly and I think it is good that there is now a thread for jokes etc......you don't have to have nearly died to enjoy humour! I and I do respect people's right to feel the way they do about everything!
