Bibiny, when I was diagnosed with liver cancer in '05, the hospital where I was diagnosed gave me a death sentence. So I went to a top hospital, which happened to be Mayo. They saved my life. I've had untreated hep C since the late '60s, so about 36 years. Thanks to those great doctors, I am still here. Now I have a new liver tumor and yesterday received targeted treatment--and today was activated with UNOS (United Network of Organ Sharing) since that treatment was the last of my evaluation requirements.
If I were you, I would at least get another opinion. If you do, ask about chemoembolization and TheraSphere. It could be that neither treatment would be recommended for her, but I would not just give up without checking into it. Also, do you know if they've tested her AFP (alpha fetoprotein?) It's a tumor marker. If it's at a high level, then you'll know how bad the cancer is.
Big hugs,
Connie
