Hi all,

Stumbled across the forum as i was searching more info on the drug baraclude.  I was diagnosed with Hep B a few years back and always had blood test done every 3 month and a liver scan every year.  Im in my early 30s and am not sure if it is the stress from my work etc, my dna count has went up quite a bit lately.  It use to be up and down but stayed under 10k (normal is under 2k).  Last 2 blood test put me over 27k count and my doctor basically suggested i may want to start the medication to prevent any more dmg.  I was told once i get on the drug, that i may have to take it for a year or two.  I was never a medication person and had been avoiding it for a while but today is my first dose.  Hopefully this will work but im already starting to worry that after i stopped taking it, it will come back which may cause the dosage etc to get even more serious..  stupid mistakes in my 20s...  Now im a father of 2 soon to be 3 and definitely want to be around for many more years to come....

Hi, Hep8888/Ken, and welcome to the  forum.  I have no personal experience with this drug, but perhaps another forum member who does will answer you soon.  I contracted hep B in the late 60s, but my immune system wiped it out.  I do have the antibody for it, so I cannot get it again unless it's a different strain. I suspect that I contracted it at the same time as hep C, which is chronic active and I'm on the transplant waiting list as of yesterday.   I was inpatient yesterday until 1:30 today for cancer treatment, so am really tired and going to bed.  I hope someone here can help you out.

Hello Hep8888,  and welcome to HealingWell.  So sorry that you have acquired HepB.  But glad you are taking steps to fight it.  One step at a time one day at a time.   Try not to worry about things that may not happen........if it doesn't come back it is just wasted energy.   Just follow your doctor's orders and enjoy your family..........thoughts and prayers......

Hep8888, it's your viral load that would go up, not your DNA.  Do follow your doctor's instructions.  You might want to ask for an MRI of your liver, rather than a CT scan.  An MRI with Gadolinium contrast would show up cancer if it's there.
