Yes, anytime there is infection, they will not be able to have surgery, thus bumping off the list until infection is cleared. Praying he does not have infection, and that the liver comes very quickly!

Still waiting ..:liver doc said they thought they had a liver for him last night but something was wrong with it . So still waiting ........

Thanks Emma ...I'm on pins and needles .:..I got the flu shot yesterday and I'm not feeling myself ...little under the weather so I am home he's at hospital..just called his nurse and told him call me if anything happens ....

Elle,

  We are thinking of you both this Saturday eve...the second day of Fall.  Hoping a liver will be available soon...and hope you get some rest at home and feel refreshed and strong tomorrow morning.

Thanks guys .....still waiting...meld still at 38 ..transplant coordinatior said its been a slow weekend ...usually they get organs on the weekend ....everything pretty calm here for now :)

Hey guys ...just saw liver doc and said they think they have a liver and surgeons are talking now whether al will get it ......liver doc said if they offer it you should take it ..seriously duh ...im not passing any type of liver at this point ...he said let's cross our fingers ..now I'm waiting ..I wanna jump out of my skin

It's going to happen soon, Elle.  If not this liver, then the next one.  Breathe deeply and slowly...in through your nose and out through your mouth.  It works to calm.

Thanks Connie and Emma ...saw surgeon and its a young ..very promising .:.it will arrive at ten and they will take him to surgery shortly after ...it should be finished by early morning .....signed consent forms for surgery ...gonna take a nap while he's sleeping right now before everything starts ..ill keep u posted

Prayers coming at you. Hope everything goes well. I have a friend who had a liver transplant 5 years ago. He had a couple of false alarms, but the third call was the charm. Talked to him a week ago and he is still doing well.

Mike got his call at 5:20 PM that they might have a liver.

They aimed for 10:00 PM to determin if the match was right and the liver was a "good one."

They took Mike to surgery at midnight.

He was 13 hours in surgery, though they gave me updates every few hours (which were hours apart).

When they started.

When they got the liver IN.

When they closed.

When they moved him to ICU recovery.

I waited 3 more hours and they didn't call me again, so I went to ICU and they let me see him.

Not a pretty site, tubes from everywhere...but he was PINK.   Sound asleep and fighting the vent.  But the liver was IN and working.  I knew it would be okay...PINK was the positive sign I was looking for.

I can only hope the same for you guys.  But it takes a long time.  Overnight for sure.

Saying prayers for a positive outcome...after all this!

I'm actually crying a bit for you...remembering how lucky to have it be your turn....

  We are so happy for you and hope all stays well with Mike and new liver is comfy.  Our "new liver good luck" candle is lit and doing it's job.  Just read that it looks like Elle and hubby will get a liver too.  Wow.  Best to all of you.
