Got a call, not the call, but in PA already!!

Got a call from PA this am. I was at work. Due to his condition, critical, they want him in PA so they can take care of him and have him here when the liver gets here. He is not doing well. Still in a coma like state.

We left Bay Pines via ambulance at 2PM, went to airport, waited for airplane . . a small one . . . left around 3:30pm from St Pete Clearwater Int. arrived at Allegany Corp Airport at 5:20pm got to VA hospital a little after 6PM. He was given an evaluation of his condition, ct scans, bloodwork. Left there around 9:30 to go to hotel.

Going back to hospital in am . . will know more tomorrow!!

My cousin came from OH to bring me warm clothes . . ice storm expected tonight!!

I'll keep ya posted!!

Debbie-I can "hear" the excitement in your post.  I am praying for you and Phil ---that he stabilizes soon and is able to receive that wonderful gift of a new liver when it is ready.  Rest up so you will be ready too.

Just left the hospital so they could do some test and drain him and clean him up from BM's. We are all hopeful that since his ammonia is down to a 54, that he is going to start responding. He is responding a little, so things are looking positive. Due to kidney failure, he has jumped to a 31 MELD score. They are doing everything they can to make sure of no infections and will be transplant ready!!

cable poodle,  glad you are in pittsburgh, even though its cold and yukky here!!  You are in my thoughts and prayers!!!  we will be in that wonderful town in two weeks for another appt with our heptatologist, hopefully meeting with the transplant coordinator soon.

Great that he is starting to respond and his ammonia is down. We are all sending out positive vibes and thoughts and hoping that hubby will get his transplant very soon!

Phil is responding much more!! He knows he is in Pittsburgh now . . nods his head to agree or answer. Hopefully tomorrow they will take the resperator tube out. It was only in because they did not want his saliva running into his lungs and him get an infection. Now that he will be able to swallow . . bye bye resperator!!!! Kidneys are the major issue now . . I'll keep you all posted . . thank you for all the psoitve vibes, prayers and just being there!!

Great news, Debbie! Thanks for the update. Are you taking care of yourself? Remembering to eat and getting enough sleep? You are going to be one busy lady after he gets his transplant, so be sure to stay healthy!

UPMC is right around the corner . . i will be here for many weeks 4 -6 or more. Stay in touch and we can get together and have coffee or something!

Deb,   That sounds good!!  We all have to stick together and help each other.  God knows its a rough road that we are all on.  I hope things are getting better and that tube is out.

The tube is out . . he is talking like John Wayne!! He is in good spirits, still a little groggy and has the NU tube in his nostril for meds. His ammonia is rising again tho . . Kidneys still inop. They puta catherater in his belly for draining . .getting a liter -2 every day so far. They want to keep the pressure off his kidneys. So far no infections . . :)

Well, I am beat, more tomorrow!!

Glad that he has the darned tube out, Debbie! I'm wondering why they are giving him meds apparently through NG tube (I'm not familiar with NU?) Why not by IV?

Hope you get some rest and sleep tonight!!

It is a NG tube Connie . .for the oral meds. They took it out today reluctantly. He has been wide awake all day and acts like he's on speed!! He kept begging me to take him out of there, because it was not what it seemed. They were torturing him, had him in shackles, and if i really loved him I would not leave his side. It was a hell day to say the least, but I am at the hotel now, eating and going to bed and pray tomorrow is a better day!!
