Hello all,
I just wanted to post some information that may be of helping to someone needing financial assistance. If a spouse served in the military during any wartime, any if it was one day, the VA will help with medical expenses and care for anyone disabled provided they meet the specific income guidellines. My mom gets help from them because my dad served during World War II. The assistance is significant. Last year they started paying her $900.00 monthly for me to care for her at home. They will also assist with the money used for assisted living or nursing home care. All you have to do is call the VA and get a form for the doctor to complete and a form for you to list your assets and expenses.
In fact, they reimbursed my mom for my dad's entire funeral cost even though it had been years earlier. Medical expenses can be deducted from income to meet the financial guidelines. My Congressman helped a lot with getting this expedited.
Georgia.
