Hi b20,
Welcome to the forum.
Though I am one of the moderators for our forum, my knowledge of Hep B is zero and will leave proper posting to those with that specific experience.
This is a holiday weekend, though there is generally some response in a few hours, we may be at a BBQ today!
There is some information at the top of the forum about liver disease that could be helpful in the mean time.
My partner has chronic Hep C (since about 1969 or 1970), was a heavy drinker, and HAD hepto cellular carcinoma (HCC) to boot. His condition deterioriated in 2009 and 2010 to the point where we didn't think he would make it into 2011. But with the proper meds, he got sober and stable enough to hang on for a transplant. Thing are much better at our house, though the Hep C lingers and his Viral Load is high after transplant.
He will need to undergo a treatment for Hep C down the line.
Living positively with a healthy lifestyly is the RX for all of us....with or without liver disease.
Best,
Mama Lama
