Hello, I am new 'round here & I replied to another post but was asked to intoduce myself so here I go...
I am 47, type 1a, stage 4 cirrohsis. I was Dx about 20 some yrs ago but had my 1st biopsy 7 yrs ago which showed me as stage 1. I decided to wait to treat it because the odds were awful and Sx scared the crap outa me...I went back 5 yrs later for another Bx after liver panels went crazy and I became borderline diabetic...I had progressed to stage 4. So now it was go time...the FDA was dragging their heels on approving new meds and we had no idea when it was going to happen so I pulled the trigger and started in Sept '10.
I completed 72 weeks of the old SOC (inf/rbv) treatment almost 6 months ago. I was slow to respond hence the long duration but was still UD at 3 months post treatment...I will have my 6 month test and ultrasound in late July but I am doing fairly well and had a normal liver panel on my last test which has NEVER happened.
The aftermath has been rough and I am still trying to recover, still not working either but that story is for another day. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia this week so am struggeling to come to terms with that. I am a survivor and this experience has changed me and how I view the world around me. I live in a happy & peaceful home on Oregon with my partner, we have a wonderful but small circle of close friends. My family is fractured and I choose to have relationships with only the ones who accept me as I am and don't put their stress and drama on me. I try to stay positive but life has a way of wearing me down which is why I like this BB...you all seem like a nice group of people.
So...there you go, me in a nutshell.
