vomiting blood what is the treatment

Liverhelp, welcome to the forum. This is a life-threatening emergency. It could be bleeding varices. Get him to an ER. And then find a hepatologist (liver specialist.) He needs better care than he has been getting. He may need to be worked up for a transplant.

Please don't let this go. They can band the varices, if that is the problem.

If he is bleeding now, Connie and Nicechap are right, you need to get to the ER ASAP.

I believe TIPS can be done to at some point which will relieve the portal pressure. The TIPS procedure in patients with ESLD helps control ascites as well as reduce the pressure which reduces the chance of bleeds.

Once TIPS is done though transplant is inevitable as it is a bridge.

I believe Ziffle has had TIPS for a few years now and it has helped him out immensely.

My Father is in Hospital since 20 June when he first vomit blood and having the Emergency care when bleeding occurs. I don't know why the Dr. has not yet reached to some solution to stop the bleeding. The Dr. says that while doing endoscopy there are no sign found for bleeding so that they can band that spot and says that it will be controlled by medicine which will take some time. My father was having the regular check-up with the same Dr. for last 3 years and 3 years ago when he had the same problem twice at that time Dr. was able to band the bleeding spots by endoscopy.
Now bleeding is occurring every 2-3 days which is so painful for my father. I have not much knowledge about the liver function so i can not discuss the scientific things but it would be helpful if you guys can suggest me that what next steps should i take to go for the treatment and any useful question that i should ask to the Dr.

I remember, when my father had a endoscopy last month while on a regular check-up he did not feel good and not like to eat for about a week and then he started vomiting blood after a week.
It is possibly a portal hypertension but its not due to cirrhosis. I don't think this is nose bleeding Dr could have find out easily if that was the case. The bleeding is thick and in dark colour in the beginning of the vomit and then in red colour seams like the bleeding is started sometime before the vomit.
The latest Hb level is 6.7. He is consulting with a Gastroenterologist the team of two Doctors in hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. There is no such Liver treatment units in our country the nearest option is to go to India or China. We expect the Dr will suggest us what to do next as he is handling the case for long time. My father has the LFT last week which was ok next he is having CT Scan in one or two days as asked.
Once he feels stable we will go to consult some other specialist as well.
I would appreciate any recommendations of you.

The blood has to be coming from somewhere! There are only so many options. Portal Hypertension, as mentioned in my first post, is not always caused by cirrhosis. It can be due to atresia or thrombosis - anything to restrict the flow of blood and cause the pressure to rise.

If that is the case, however, and as you say his liver is fine, this reduces the likelihood of the PHTG being the cause - as this normally only produces significant bleeding in conjunction with some kind of coagulopathy. Liver patients almost always have clotting problems - non-liver patients (unless there is some kind of splenic or reticulondothelial involvement, less often.
