Butterfly's Husbands Sovaldi Treatment

I am so glad to hear that you re going to get Sovaldi for your husband. Mike didn't get int othe study for this drug recently and so far we cannot find a way to get it. He has an appointment at his TP clinic in Miami next week and that is the #1 discussion point.

The study director told us that they were testing 12 and 24 week courses of the drug combined with Ribavirin. He said the Rivavirin was not necessary in his opinion, but that is the protocol of the day.

He said they had many subjects come thrugh his study and to date...no one had failed to clear the virus. some had fallen of the studies...for other reasons...a transplant came available for the candidate, someone got sick from some other problem, they had to move for work, etc. But no one had actually FAILED. This was so encouraging to me I cried.

We have 2 folks on the forum who are starting treatment now and you should be keeping up with their posts too.

We need to hear how you are doing. We hear that the side effects are light..and want to hear how your hubby is handling any that come along.

Congratulations on your hubby's good fortune. Would you feel free to share with us the copay costs you have had to pay, and how that worked for you. Many are in a fix where they cannot get the meds because they are so expensive...or just not covered on their plans.

Hi Butterfly 422, as of this time their is at least three users on this forum including myself who recently began taking Sovaldi + Ribavirin treatment.

I encourage all users to provide as much info as they can without revealing their identity but perhaps as something others can refer to when they begin treatment so we can all as a group better understand how this new drug will affect us all, we would all very much appreciate you also sharing your husbands treatment log in these forums about how he does day to day or week to week and how he feels and any side effects he may encounter.

I know when I first came to this forum I was so scared and everybody helped calm me down and now that I am beginning my treatment I want to do everything possible to let people know how my treatment goes and any problems at all that I experience so users of the forums both old and new will have more than a Sovaldi & Ribavirin monograph but instead they have REAL factual feelings and side effects from the front line.

Of course we won't all have side effects, some will and some won't BUT I still believe its important we all share our log of treatment for others to see. Personally I smiled ear to ear last night to find another used who began treatment two days before me is taking the same dosage and treatment length and he is almost the same height & weight among other things and for me that is great as a reference and again, while we may not have any side effects if we do we can both share what we do to eleviate them etc. and in the end this benefits not only me but everyone else that comes along and see this archived data.

Some users on here have suffered with Hepatitis for 20 years and trust me if I get a rash or something I probably won't be asking me doctor what to use I will be asking the experts on this forum! Of course we all know some things should always be looked at by a doctor!

Best of luck Butterfly422 and please make sure when your treatment starts to make a new thread with a Subject such as "Sovaldi & Ribavirin Treatment log for Butterfly442's Husband" so when others come to the forum and search for "Sovaldi" even if they come 5-10 years from now our logs will be easy for all to find...I suspect by then it will also be alot harder to find people infected with Hepatitis C thanks to this cure.
