A further update. The English NHS issued new guidance yesterday. Whilst the body that decides on cost effectiveness of treatments considers Sovaldi they have made money available (£19m - about
$30m I think) to treat up to 500 patients now who are 'at significant risk of mortality or who require transplantation'. The treatment will be carried out in 15 centres to help ensure consistency in approach and to get effective feedback on success rates. Up until now decisions have been made locally within existing budgets so this new amount should result in a lot more people being treated.
Not sure what is happening in Scotland and Wales.
