Canadian Hep C 1a --need help getting treatment drugs in Toronto without insurance...any ideas???

Welcome to the forum.

Many Canadian posters are on this site, several from Toronoto and I supect they will respond to your post.

Many with Hep C wind up uninsured and unemployed or unemployable because they are disabled...but getting that designation can be difficult. My partner, who has been disabled for YEARS, did not qualify for our Social Security disability on their medical charts, but because of the mental/nervous side of the illness, he just couldn't work. AND he was not mentally well enough to sort through their program of appeals. Finally I took that project on for him and they had a loophole...if you had not worked in recent time they deemed you ineligible. He has qualified for our Medicaid and has his meds and treatments approved through them...thank goodness.

I am not certain the criteria in Toronto, but surely there is something for someone with advanced Stage 3-4 almost cirrhosis who is too ill to work.

Mike took Sovaldi and Olysio, the brand names for the Sovaldi and Simipravir. He has cleared the virus and is hoping for sustained viral response, determined 6 months post treatment. He is also feeling better 3 years post transplant and at 65 is talking about going back to work in the fall. We shall see.

Mike is/was 1a genotype, infected in 1969 or so. He tried interferon and ribivirin in 2003 and got very very sick. Now he tried the new medicine as did several others here...

Thanks for your respond themiz. My biggest challenge is to be in the waiting list for trial Sovaldi and Simeprevir.
My understanding there is a lot of people waiting in the line.
Sometimes it reminds the movie "Titanic" - the moment when he ship start to sink and all simple people got locked and boats were given to reach first...
